Build Your Own Gaming Notebook
Trying to turn my Acer 3690 notebook into a gaming computer?
Now should i buy more ram and possibly a graphics card or is that difficult. Im really new to the process of building a computer since i usually stick with consoles. I dont need a super computer i just want something that can play most games at moderate to high speeds and some MMO'S smoothly. Should i sell the labtop and get a desktop?

- Go desktop. Get a 8800GTS with G92 processor 512MB Ram. Still selling the last of them at newegg.com . You could build a machine that would play most stuff well for $600

base from my experience no matter how much i try to ventilate my laptop the temperature still burns up to 61c which is very hot.
my laptop specs is 2gb ram 256mb video card and a core2duo processor now my laptops dead because of my foolishness.
my best advice is sell your laptop and buy a decent desktop. if parts of your desktop fail its easy to replace and cheap. while in laptop's its hard to find and expensive.

- With laptops, it is generally difficult to upgrade anything but the RAM (and sometimes the hard drive).
Since the 3690 only has a 1.6ghz CPU, you'll want to get a new system as this really isn't enough power for a gaming computer. It also has a 60gb HDD, which isn't enough when you start loading games on.
Decent stats to look for are:
~2.5ghz CPU
250GB HDD
at least 256mb graphics card
3GB RAM (unless you're going to be running a 64-bit OS, in which case get 4GB)
That's pretty much all the stats that'll affect your gaming experience.

- you cant really do that laptops are just for basic use and if you game you need powerful components which emit alot of heat which laptops are to enclosed to deplete that heat so you might have problems so your best bet is to get a cheap desktop and just upgrade little by little or just get a blank tower and build off that
