Build Your Own Gaming Notebook
Checklist for custom gaming PC?
Hey, i want to upgrade from my Notebook to a gaming PC. Just wondering how to go about this, I am not too bad with PCs and know a little about components and things, yet have never built my own PC so am not aware of how i would make sure that all of the components would work together and all fit on the same motherboard. Things like RAM and a Processor, cooling system (only ever used heat-sinks, don't know about other devices) Would anybody be able to give me a checklist for what i would need? I would like to build it and not have to spend as much as i would if i bought one pre-built. Does not have to be top-end stuff but something that can run all current PC games on high settings with a good frame rate. I know the sort of numbers i am after for things like Processor, RAM and HDD space, but it is making sure that everything is compatible. Thanks! I know the numbers i am looking for and the operating system that i would need, it was more like: Video card Processor RAM (and the sort of ram, i dont know the difference) motherboard IDE ribbon cables (not sure if these are used anymore, i have used a laptop for years now) Power supply This is the sort of info i want, a list that i can check things of when i obtain them, thanks!

- well for core you need a i7 intel, which is great, at least 8GB of RAM and make sure you buy 64bit windows also you would want at least 1TB of HDD space
- You can use this, it lists the majority of the components ( no cd/dvd drives or os) you'll need for various price ranges. To find out what memory to get, do a search using the motherboard make and model (on the list), locate the manufacturers link and look at the memory support list (QVL).
