- For a gaming laptop, it depends on what you want to play. Demanding games like Crysis 2, Starcraft 2, and Metro 2033 need impressive video cards to handle them. Less-demanding games like left 4 dead and battlefield 2 (bad company) need less intensive cards.
If you want to play demanding games, your best luck would have to be an HP, but it's really out of your price range, in the $850 and beyond.
If you want to play less-demanding games, I would suggest the HP dv6z computer with the 1gb radeon graphics card. This computer can play many games as you wish, and is also a wonderful companion for you school endeavors.

Hopes this helps
- hello, I have had very bad experience with loptop when it comes to process intense application s such as gaming and video editing. I am currently using acer aspire 8930g-7665 wen i bought this it was $2000.00 the specs are 2ghz quad core cpu so it has 4 cores of 2ghz and 4gig 1066 ddr3 ram 9700mgt nvidia graphics card 500gb 7200 rpm hard drive full hd 1080p screen 8ms high def response running windows 7. but Guess what it sucks at gaming this turned my mind off loptops i could get a way better desktop for the money i payed for this, as for as it comes to loptop and process intense applications its a no no situation for me. i think loptops has cooling problems its starts off ok buter after a few minutes when the cpu heats it becomes very loggy. these tiny fans cant manage to cool cpu's lopttops just r not made for intense applications and even if you could find one it would not be cheap maybe from 17hundred up

- Just got the HP Pavilion dv6-3120us laptop. good price for all the features, expandable to 8g ram 2.6ghz dual core processor works great. has a cool little media quick launch button that starts up either hulu or netflix right away. the keyboard is a little off spacing wise but that could just be because im used to my toshiba that kicked the bucket. so far smooth. everyting started up great, streams movies to my tv though the hdmi. will let yall know if any problems arise. ohh a quick note that i think all the major laptop companies are changing their touch mouse thing. it takes a little getting used to but i didnt see much of any other option out there. there are no real buttons just one flat touch pad. i had to knock down the sensitivity on mine
