Build Your Own Gaming Notebook

Teach me how to upgrade my notebook!!! (please)?

Okay, I have no idea what I'm doing. I was watching crysis on youtube and it is FREAKIN SWEET. I must have this game. But I can't run it. Just the demo crashes my system. I also will be playing Gears and COD4 on it as well. I have a Compaq presario F700. Specs: CPU: 2 processors running - AMD Turion(tm) 64 X2 Mobile Technology TL-58 CPU Speed: 1.90 GHz Performance Rated at 3.85 GHz System RAM: 1.9 GB PASS OS: Microsoft Windows Vista Home Edition (Build 6000) Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 7000M / nForce 610M So, once I buy the stuff i need, what do I do? Is it as simple as cracking open my case and taking out the old stuff and putting in the new? What's the price range I am looking to spend for minimum to top of the line? In the "System requirements lab" I don't even meet the minimum. Not even close. But on the game settings tab I go to "Detect Settings" and it sets them to "medium." I also closed all programs before starting.

  1. If that isn't enough to run your game, you are going to need a serious upgrade. The top of the line PC can cost over 4,000 dollars to buy.

  2. I have the exact stuff you have Mine is a hp 2615 and I can go in the bios and change the amount of video memory it shares with system memory from 64MB to 128MB maybe yours will do that

  3. Your computer sounds fine. You are very limited as to what you can upgrade on a laptop. Ram and a bigger hard drive are about your only options. I would minimize the programs running on startup. have as few programs open when you try to play. Once you start your demo, then hit CTRL+ALT+DEl and then select start task manager. then select processes and figure out which name on the list is your demo. Right click it and select set priority and then select "real time" you may now exit this and try your game.

You have enough to run the program I think, its just a matter of freeing rescources.
