Need help choosing something for my custom gaming laptop? I am buying this laptop from IBuyPower.com http://www.ibuypower.com/Store/Battalion_101_X8100_Gaming_Notebook/w/25347 My question is about the harddrives. Apart from getting a 500g harddrive with 7200 rpm, I'm also getting a 64 gb SSD drive, so that my laptop can function faster and I can run the 1 or 2 games I'm playing at the moment very quickly. My question is, which one is the best? The "64 GB Kingston SSDNow V Series MLC SSD Single Drive" or the "64 GB Corsair Nova Series V64 MLC SSD Single Drive" ?

Checklist for custom gaming PC? Hey, i want to upgrade from my Notebook to a gaming PC. Just wondering how to go about this, I am not too bad with PCs and know a little about components and things, yet have never built my own PC so am not aware of how i would make sure that all of the components would work together and all fit on the same motherboard. Things like RAM and a Processor, cooling system (only ever used heat-sinks, don't know about other devices) Would anybody be able to give me a checklist for what i would need? I would like to build it and not have to spend as much as i would if i bought one pre-built. Does not have to be top-end stuff but something that can run all current PC games on high settings with a good frame rate. I know the sort of numbers i am after for things like Processor, RAM and HDD space, but it is making sure that everything is compatible. Thanks! I know the numbers i am looking for and the operating system that i would need, it was more like: Video card Processor RAM (and the sort of ram, i dont know the difference) motherboard IDE ribbon cables (not sure if these are used anymore, i have used a laptop for years now) Power supply This is the sort of info i want, a list that i can check things of when i obtain them, thanks!

Gaming laptop between u$s 650 - 990? What is the best gaming laptop in that price range? Some features I'm looking for is widescreen, wireless connection, HDMI, maybe - but not necessarily - BluRay, a fast hard drive and great graphics. I'm looking for specific suggestions if possible. I'm going to be buying it either on the third world or in Japan, so my options are limited in what respects custom notebooks as is used in the States. So it's either a small and a tad more expensive variety here in South America, or lots of Japanese brands and somewhat more expensive costs in Japan.
Help with gaming PC components? I'm gonna buy a new custom-built Alienware m17 or m15x gaming notebook, but I need to be sure of how I'm gonna buy it. I know about all the different components, but some things have me confused, for example: 1. Which is better: a 3.2 GHz single-core, 2.8 GHz dual-core, or 2.26 GHz quad-core processor and by how much? 2. Do I need a faster processor for 4GB RAM than for 2GB RAM? 3.Do dual graphics cards need a faster processor or more RAM than single graphics cards? 4.Will a dual-layer blu-ray drive read game CD's and DVD's slower than an 8X dual-layer DVD-ROM drive? 5. Do i need a faster CPU or more RAM for multiple hard drives? 6. Does the built-in digital TV tuner need anything else (cable\satellite subscription, antenna) to receive channels? Also, if you have any recommendations for components like processor types/speeds, graphics cards types, etc., to be able to run the latest graphics-intensive games, please tell me. Also, please answer only if you actually know what you're talking about because that's a couple thousand bucks I'll be throwing down the drain if I order a laptop with parts that won't work right together. Thanks. I have a $3000 limit. maybe up to $3500 I know I might sound like an idiot (cause I do know about computers), but I needed to dumb myself down to make sure I got all the info I need; its better than pretending like I know everything and not getting any info.
Best Gaming Laptop? or companies? I want to buy a new notebook pc, need it to be custom built and fast so i can do lots of gaming. Ive looked at alienware and ibuypower. Anyone know othe companies that build custom gaming laptops? Design is secondary to performance, but if it looks nice, even better.
what notebook would be better for gaming? i'm planning to purchase a gaming notebook for under $1000, and among these choices(or others if you have any), which would be the best for gaming and speed for things like everyday browsing? Option 1:Cyberpower Custom notebookhttp://www.cyberpowerpc.com/system/Xplorer_X5-7800_Notebook/ with p8700 duo processor at 2.53 ghz and Nvidia Geforce 9600m-gt, 15.4 screen Option 2:Asus g50 http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9050279&type=product&id=1218012519873 p8400 processor at 2.26 ghz, but Nvidia geforce 9800m gs. the first one has a better processor, but the second one has a better video card! Which one would be better? would i see any noticable difference between the two processors and video cards?
Feedback on gaming computer choice.? I've had some... very...bad experiences with building my own computer and was recommended ibuypower.com for my next god-box. They look great and the prices are very favourable, however, I was wondering if any of the dozens of custom gaming pc sites differ at all in quality/price? Also, I was hoping to buy a laptop, as I am going to college soon, and will need a notebook as well as a powerful gaming fix. Do you think it wise to buy a gaming laptop? Would there be any negatives to buying a laptop as opposed to a tower? Thanks for any help and I would appreciate any other feedback. So, you're saying that, performance-to-price, desktops are actually cheaper? (and of course upgradeable)

Possible gaming laptop....? So I'm looking to upgrade. Nothing immediate but my current laptop is four years old and it's acting iffy. I don't really need a "gaming" laptop but I do intend to play the Sims 3, so I figured gamers would know what's good. But mostly it will be used for school, facebook, and watching TV shows online. Here's what I'm looking at, it about $500 cause I am on a budget. Also, what's that 5-in-1 integrated digital media reader about? That's actually an add on. Do I need it? Compaq Presario CQ60Z customizable Notebook PC * Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 1 (32-bit) * AMD Athlon(TM) X2 Dual-Core Processor for Notebook PCs QL-65 (2.1GHz, 1MB L2 Cache) * 3GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm) * 160GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive * NVIDIA GeForce 8200M G with 5-in-1 integrated Digital Media Reader * 15.6" diagonal High Definition HP Brightview Display (1366x768) * LightScribe SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-RW with Double Layer Support * Microphone + Webcam * Wireless-G Card with Bluetooth * HP Color Matching Keyboard * 6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery * 65W Adapter * Microsoft(R) Works 9.0 * HP Home & Home Office Store in-box envelope And here's the Sims 3 specs: FOR WINDOWS VISTA * 2.4 GHz P4 processor or equivalent * 1.5 GB RAM * 128 MB Video Card with support for Pixel Shader 2.0 * Microsoft Windows Vista Service Pack 1 * At least 6.1 GB of hard drive space with at least 1 GB of additional space for custom content and saved games NVIDIA GeForce series FX 5900, FX 5950 6200, 6500, 6600, 6800 7200, 7300, 7600, 7800, 7900, 7950 8400, 8500, 8600, 8800 9300, 9400, 9500, 9600, 9800 G100, GT 120, GT 130, GTS 150 GTS 250, GTX 260, GTX 280, GTX 285, GTX 295
Is this a decent gaming laptop? Intel Core 2 Duo - 2 GHz GeForce GT 200 series GPU (don't know which exactly, the laptop is custom-made by my father) 3 GB RAM, DDR3 (didn't mention the frequency, but I'm sure it'll "manage") I intend to use it in college (saving the planet 15 notebooks at a time), but I also want it to run modern games at low-to-medium settings with a decent framerate. Would it be good for that? I was never interested in the graphics of the games, more in the story. So I should be able to run Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Starcraft 2 etc. at high settings? Played Starcraft 2 at the absolute lowest and I can say I felt like playing the first game :/ (besides the lower-tier story)
Most ambiguous computer website question ever!? OK, This is gonna be a real duzy of a question to answer, mainly because of the vague information i have to go on for you guys. So here it is: A few months ago I came across this really awesome website that was a custom computer builder, it was very "bright" lots of orange and blue textures and computer images everywhere (i know, not very helpful), anyway this site let you customize any computer system you wanted: pc's, laptops, notebooks, etc. It sold parts made by virtually everybody, and gave me a level of customization that I've never seen since, problem is I forgot to bookmark it, and so when the next day my computer ran it's scheduled CCleaner, i lost the address, and have never been able to find the site since, and believe me I've looked hard. It wasn't a company like alienware or pugetsystems - one that sold it's own product - just a customization one. Websites that I've tried and haven't been it include: digitalstormonline, cyberpower, gamepc, shopl2, sagernotebook, and avadirect, among other similar ones. The best way I could describe the site (in terms of how it looked) would be a combination of shopl2.com, newegg.com, and tigerdirect.com (again with a blue and orange color scheme). In terms of It's functionallity, it would be similar to any of the websites i listed in the above paragraph, and it's method of selection utilized both "bubbles" and drop-lines (as far as i can remember). It also offered up to 48GB of RAM for memory, something that I haven't found elsewhere, and so might be a distiguishing detail. Also, I did copy the systems I built using the site, one pc and one laptop, and the details I will list below in case any of the parts listed provide a clue or answer for someone. Finally I found the site as a link on another website (which I also cannot recall). So please help! I will be keeping this question open for as long as possible, so please, as many people as possible, please help me out! Thank You in Advance! Need a good gaming computer. HELP.? So I don't know a lot about specs for computers. I just love playing on computers. Right now all I have is a cheap netbook that I can't do a lot on. I want a good gaming computer. One that will let me play online with others with games like Halo and also play my Sims games. I don't want it to lag up on me. I tried playing Halo on my netbook and it was working fine until I got to a battle scene. Then there was no way to play. So I went to iBuyPower.com and custom configured a computer. I choose stuff that I saw someone else had choose for the most part. If there is anyone out there with gaming computer knowledge I would be greatful for your input. i am looking to buy a custom Hp pavillion g6t series laptop. is it a good buy? i am looking to buy the laptop w/ these custom specifications, starts at $400 -pacific blue color +$25 -windows 7, 64bit +$0 -2nd gen dual core intel i5-2410M 2.3GHz 3MB processor +$145 -512MB DDR3 Radeon HD 6470M Graphics +$50 (there is a 1gb for +$50 more) -4GB DDR3 System Memory (2 Dimm) +$40 -320GB 7200RPM Hard Drive +$10 -2010 Microsoft office 2010 +$79 -802.11b/g/n WLAN and Bluetooth(R) +$15 TOTAL: 763.99 This is the best i could find for the value, plus i may be able to get a 10-20% discount. I'm relatively new to purchasing a laptop/notebook and i'm unsure of what is good. i know the specs i want. i'm trying to get this as a school/gaming laptop. so i would love any suggestions. i'm on a budget of $800 but i would prefer to keep it at around $700. it needs a good processor, good ram, good video card, nothing amazing, but the main game i am looking to buy for it is guild wars 2. i don't know how to put reply's so i will put them here, thanks for the $530 Acer, it looks great, but i would love to see more laptop suggestions.
SLI notebook or desktop? Prebuilt or custom? I'm thinking of replacing my laptop with a SLI computer. Before I begin further, I do not plan on using it for gaming. Rather I am very big in to 3d applications, and use about 5-7 programs at the very same time. The reason I want a gaming computer is to handle those graphics and everything I do at once. What I need I suppose would be better describe as a workstation. Rendering needs at full HD capacity. I'm very interested in SLI computers. But not sure if I should go via laptop or desktop. If laptop it would be a prebuilt. Sagernotebook.com caught my eye and pctorque seems to have a better policy on them. They appear to be clevo computers. Which one should i get? I like the most expensive one because of the 3 RAID hd, (though I only need one) and it uses destop cpus and it looks like a beast. 4 things i do not like is the price, 1hr battery life, no hdmi, and the weight. I want something with 2-4 and maybe 5 hrs of battery life, one hd is fine, i want an actual video card and sli format. HDMI support as well. What laptop would people here recommend? I want something that so powerful it would last my entire life and still be upgradeable to beat whatever on the market. That might be a bit much but that is what i want. Try to be less than 2grand. Or should i go the desktop way? NO DELL
Recommendations for a Gaming Laptop? I'm trying to get other people's ideas on what laptop I should get. I'm starting out in college and I'm going to get a laptop as a high school graduation present. It must be under $1000 and not too large. I will be using it for schoolwork and gaming (mostly MMO's and an FPS or 2). The laptop I'm currently considering is the one below which costs $992.00 + shipping. It's the best I could find that hopefully wouldn't overheat on me. Free PC Games that Aren't Graphically Demanding.? I have a custom built gaming rig, but I not a home and only have my laptop with me (which sucks). What are some good free PC games that could run on an i3-370M notebook with Intel HD Graphics? I have a 7 hour car drive ahead of me too hahaha. Thanks in advanced! Cole
I'm trying to decide which computer to get? Any suggestions? I'm currently debating. I'm in Canada, and these are both from EasyHome. My mom said I can get a new computer, and said she was okay with getting me one of these two computers from EasyHome. It works out so that you pay biweekly for a product you order, and get the product right away. The computers I'm debating between are a Gateway 17" P Series FX Edition Notebook and an Acer AG5900-U3092 Desktop with what I'm pretty sure is an Acer H233H 23" monitor. The monitor is definitely 23", but this flier doesn't give the model names of these products, and this offer isn't until about 3 weeks from now, so the product specifications aren't online. The Gateway laptop comes with "an FX Gaming Chassis, 1 GB Video Card for Incredible Gaming Graphics, 4 GB RAM, and a 500 GB Hard Drive". The Acer Desktop comes with "a Custom Gaming Chassis, 1 GB Video Card for Stunning Gaming Graphics, 4 GB RAM, 1 TB Hard Drive, and the 23" Monitor". Both of these computers are going for the exact same price, and I'm unsure of which to get, because the laptop's portability comes in handy SO much at school(I'm currently using a laptop, but if I get one of these, my mom will be taking this one), but the desktop is better quality, and the school DOES have computers for me to use there(enough to manage, it's just the laptop would be easier and a more reliable resource than the school computers, as there is about 1500 students who use them, and about 60-70 computers total scattered throughout the school, many in rooms that are often locked). So, guys, I would EXTREMELY like your inputs. I am currently leaning towards the Desktop, because it is better quality than the laptop and I DO have somewhat computer access at school. Sorry for so much info, but I want to make sure all the facts are present. So, what would you guys do? I plan on gaming, but not like insanely hardcore gaming. Something I forgot to mention, though- the desktop has a much better processor than the laptop. Laptops are nice, but desktops are much easier to upgrade with hardware, as well. I'm still not really dissuaded from the desktop because of that comment. I don't mean to say I have my mind made, I just mean that if you guys believe I should go with the laptop, can you please provide reasonable detail as to why I should? I think I sound like I'm asking this when I already have an answer. I don't. It's just the desktop has many better qualities than the laptop, and I don't want it to seem like I'm picking the desktop for the TB of hard drive. It IS persuading, but I wouldn't base my decision solely on that. There's other factors, like the fact that I'll have the money to buy myself a cheaper laptop to suffice for school at the end of next summer, and I think I could manage for a year. Sorry if I sound stubborn :/ Thanks ^^

Can this laptop play Aion with VERY good requirments? It's just a VERY simple question; can the following laptop play Aion (under win7 OS, meaning the i7 can be used so that 2 cores are totally dedicated to the game) at VERY very good requirements smoothly? Custom Alienware Computer? I wanna buy an alienware Area-51 m15x notebook, and it allows you to customize your notebook. As I don't want to spend every cent I make I was wondering if there really would be a huge difference in performance (I want this to be a gaming computer, but I would use it for normal stuff such as typing papers, surfing the web as well) if I was to get lower specs, like this: 512mb Nvidia GeForce 8700M GT instead of the 512mb Nvidia GeForce 8800M GTX (saving $350) and the Intel Core 2 Duo T9300 2.5Ghz (6Mb Cache 800MHz FSB) instead of the Intel® Core 2 Extreme X9000 2.8GHz (6MB Cache 800MHz FSB) (Saving $650) and the 2GB Dual Channel DDR2 SO-DIMM at 667MHz – 2 x 1024MB instead of the 4GB Dual Channel DDR2 SO-DIMM at 667MHz – 2 x 2048MB (Saving $200) and finally the 320GB 7600RPM (16Mb Cache) system drive instead of the 64GB Solid State Drive + 120GB 7,200RPM (8MB Cache) Smart Bay (Saving $425) Any help, and some tips would be appreciated.
A good laptop for The Sims 3? I have my eye on the Alienware M17 Gaming laptop. http://www.dell.com/us/en/home/notebooks/laptop-alienware-m17x/pd.aspx?refid=laptop-alienware-m17x&s=dhs&cs=19 Will this work well? I am not a technologically advanced person (like at all) so I have no idea what any of the requirements mean or what works as a substitute. Here is a list of requirements for the game: FOR WINDOWS XP * 2.0 GHz P4 processor or equivalent * 1 GB RAM * 128 MB Video Card with support for Pixel Shader 2.0 * The latest version of DirectX 9.0c * Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 * At least 6.1 GB of hard drive space with at least 1 GB of additional space for custom content and saved games FOR WINDOWS VISTA * 2.4 GHz P4 processor or equivalent * 1.5 GB RAM * 128 MB Video Card with support for Pixel Shader 2.0 * Microsoft Windows Vista Service Pack 1 * At least 6.1 GB of hard drive space with at least 1 GB of additional space for custom content and saved games There are some other things on the website http://www.thesims3.com/game/systemreq but I have no idea what they are saying or asking for, so if anyone can give me answers I would be VERY thankful! Also, anyone who has played the game on a laptop, reviews and such would be appreciated. And what kind of laptop was used. Thanks ahead of time!

Recommended computer settings? I dont know that much about computers, but i need to get a new one. I am looking for a laptop with a disk drive that is able to play almost any game at normal graphics settings. My current computer is the dell mini notebook (the one off of the original lollipop song commercial) and it cant play anything. I really just need to know the specs so that i can build a custom one on the dell website. Thanks, 10 points for best answer.

Is my laptop met the system requirements for this game? I have a HP Pavilion dv9925nr Notebook PC and I would like to purchase the game The Sims 3. I am trying to find out if my system will be able to handle the game. I have vista on my laptop. Here are the game requirements: FOR WINDOWS VISTA 2.4 GHz P4 processor or equivalent 1.5 GB RAM 128 MB Video Card with support for Pixel Shader 2.0 Microsoft Windows Vista Service Pack 1 At least 6.1 GB of hard drive space with at least 1 GB of additional space for custom content and saved games For computers using built-in graphics chipsets under Windows, the game requires at least: Intel Integrated Chipset, GMA 3-Series or above 2.6 GHz Pentium D CPU, or 1.8 GHz Core 2 Duo, or equivalent 0.5 GB additional RAM I do not want it to be to slow in running the game. How can I tell if it will be ok or not?
How well would the Sims 3 run on this notebook computer? I've been looking around for a notebook that will run smoothly. However, I cannot find a good notebook that will play the Sims 3 smoothly, so I'm going to ask those who understand a bit more than me. Will this machine work on a 3 of 4 star scale without it being slow and unstable? The notebook I'm currently looking at is: Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit HP Pavilion HDZ16t 2.26 GHz Intel Core2 Duo CPU 4 GB DDR2 Memory/RAM 500 GB Hard Drive 1GB nVidia GeForce GT130M Now, it's saying that I need a CPU that's at least 2.4GHz P4 or equivalent. Now at the bottom shows that for "For computers using built-in graphics chipsets under Windows, the game requires at least: •Intel Integrated Chipset, GMA 3-Series or above •2.6 GHz Pentium D CPU, or 1.8 GHz Core 2 Duo, or equivalent •0.5 GB additional RAM" My question on this is, if the built-in graphics are at least 1.8 GHz with a Core2 Duo, shouldn't it be the same if you had a 3rd party graphics like nVidia or ATI? The following Windows Vista system requirements are for the Sims 3. The video card above (1GB nVidia GeForce 130M) is supported by the Sims 3, so I know I have no issue there will determine how well this machine will run this game: •2.4 GHz P4 processor or equivalent •1.5 GB RAM •128 MB Video Card with support for Pixel Shader 2.0 •Microsoft Windows Vista Service Pack 1 •At least 6.1 GB of hard drive space with at least 1 GB of additional space for custom content and saved games The 2.4GHz Pentium 4 and equivalent are sort of confusing to me, because I've been thinking that the 2.26GHz isn't sufficent and I may have to upgrade it to the 2.66GHz Core2 Duo by customizing the notebook on HP.com which is about $175 extra to do so! So, my overall questionto you, do you believe this game will run sufficient to perfect, or should I upgrade something before this purchase such as the CPU or RAM? Actually, it only cost about $979.99 plus s/h would be $1,000. The link below is where I'm going to purchase it. http://www.shopping.hp.com/product/computers/notebooks/HDX16t_series/rts/4/computer_store/NV032UA%2523ABA

Which notebook should I buy? I've been looking into finding a nice notebook for around $800 dollars to take off to college. The only gaming I do is WoW, which isn't too graphic intensive, so which of these should I buy? HP DV 6700t w/ Intel t72550 (2GHZ, 2MB, 800 MHZ), 2gb RAM, 256mb nvidia 8400M GS or iBuyPower Battalion 101 CZ-7 Elite (custom built from ibuypower.com) w/ intel T5450 (1.66GHz/2MB Cache/667FSB), 2gb ram, 256mb nvidia go 8600GT Most of the rest is pretty similar. The only other thing worth mentioning is that the HP has Vista premium 64 bit, while the other only has the 32 bit version. Both are about the same price, so which will probably yield better speeds in a game like WoW or Guild Wars? Will the better graphics card on the ibuypower make up for the slower processor? Or, if you know of a better notebook for around $800 or less, then by all means, do tell.
How can I make my sims 3 game run faster? I hardly have any custom content in the game, yet it still insists on running slowly. When I bought this computer, the salesperson from BestBuy said that it would be able to run the sims 3. Lies? I think so. Here are my specs: Model: HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC Ram: 4.00 GB System type: 64 Bit operating system Processor: Intel (R) Core (TM)2 Duo CPU T6600 @ 2.20GHz Any suggestions? Though I knew how to check those specs, I do not know how to check what my graphic card is, and yes, I have lowered every tiny little graphic thing in the game.
Okay, I have all the specs, why isn't my Sims 3 game running faster? I hardly have any custom content in the game, yet it still insists on running slowly. When I bought this computer, the salesperson from Best Buy said that it would be able to run the sims 3. Apparently, I do have the right computer for it..anywho, here are my specs: Model: HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC Ram: 4.00 GB System type: 64 Bit operating system Processor: Intel (R) Core (TM)2 Duo CPU T6600 @ 2.20GHz This is my graphics card specs: Name: Mobile Intel (R) 4 Series Express Chip-set Family Manufacturer: Intel Corporation Chip Type: Mobile Intel (R) 4 Series Express Chip-set Family DAC Type: Internal Approx. Why does my Sims 2 crash my computer and how do I fix it? I've already read all the others posted and they don't have the same type of crashing I do. I've been to read forums and those haven't helped either. I'm reaching to you, Answers community to resolve my problem. I have every single Sims 2 and loads of custom content. I played the game without the custom content and it still did the same thing it's been doing. I can play for maybe 10 minutes and then my cursor disappears, followed by a blue screen of text that says I have installed new software that has caused the crash and I need to restart my computer, which I do. I have uninstalled and reinstalled, I actually bought all new games to see if maybe mine were the problem. I have a brand new HP Pavilion dv4-1435dx Entertainment Notebook PC. I've seriously had it for maybe 3 months. Why is it crashing and how do I fix it? I just want to play my flippin game. @ # 2, I don't have vista, I have windows 7. Am I allowed to upgrade the graphics card? How would I go about choosing one?
