Why don't notebooks come with Core 2 Extreme processors ? Only gaming notebooks have a Core 2 Extreme. Toshiba X305 has got it. Dell's XPS has got it. Why not all new laptops ? Wouldn't it be better than Core 2 Duo ? Even if the Laptop is used for applications like Photoshop / Video Editing and Music Productions that use heavy VSTi's and samples.

What is the best gaming laptop or notebook? I don't really care about the price, but I need to know the best laptop available for extreme gaming. Recently I only found HPDV9500t with HD screen, HD dvd and all.
Does the performance difference between X7900 and T7700 processors justify the huge price difference? The extreme gaming Dell notebook XPS M1730 offers the Intel Core 2 Duo T7700 @2.4GHz and the Intel Core 2 Extreme X7900 @2.8Ghz as options when building the system. The price difference between them is about US$1000! Is it worth to choose the X7900 over the T7700, considering how much I should pay for it? Thanks!
"Logitech Extreme Gaming Headset" Suddenly Stop Working.? Last night my "Logitech Extreme Gaming Headset" was working working fine on Ventrilo. I checked around for some solutions. I did not change any sound settings. I am on a Compaq Presario C306US Notebook PC. I got the wires connected in the correct slots. Updated my sound drivers. Mic volume is up. Recording option is checked. I am not sure what to do. I am using XP Media. I tested the microphone on another laptop which is using Vista. The mic works fine. Last night I did download, "AV Voice Changer 6.0 Diamond", after the program was installed, that was when the microphone went out. I unstalled the program, and restarted the computer many times. I can not seem to solve the problem. It is not Ventrilo, I tested by doing the "training profile" and the microphone did not pick up at all. So please help me. Thank you. I tested on another computer, the microphone does work. If I have to do a system recovery, is there anyway I can make it go back two days and not to when I first got it. I don't think I got any CDs besides the one that came with the computer. It turn out the only way I could fix this was to do a system restore. My guess would be that the voice changer program interfere with a certain .dll file that the headset needed for the microphone to work. Once the .dll was changed to meet the voice changer requirement, the microphone no longer worked.

Sub 600Euro (780$) Gaming-Notebook choice? Dear Community, I am looking for a new Notebook as my old one is in the process of breaking down (7years, 18000h). I am looking for a Notebook with the following specs: - 600 Euro (780$) max. - Gaming possibility (some ex.: Mirrors Edge, Crysis 2, GTA....) - Non Glare Display (15-16 inch) - minimum 3xUSB 2.0 (if possible 4x USB incl. 1x USB 3.0) - NVidia Optimus & PhysiX (if possible) - webcam - medium Battery life (if poss.) ...etc... I really want to get the best experience for the price, as i plan on using this notebook for the next couple of years. And in the end, not regret my decision by seeing something (much) better for the price. Also, i am not a Gamer in the extreme sense of the term, as i don't / can't play extremely often. Despite of that, i want to know, that if a nice game comes out or i find an older game, i can play it at a decent level of detail and without lags of course. What i found until know is this: Acer TravelMate 5760G NVidia GT630M (1GB) Intel i5 2450M (2,5Ghz) 8GB RAM Non Glare, 15,6 inch... 500 GB HDD ...this may not be the best computer on the market, but the only reasonable one i found. As i mentioned before, i would like to see what is possible at this (low) price point. And whether you can get better gaming power (than GT360M) at 600Euro (780$) Thank you. Your sincerely, Rodin's Thinker

Need help buying a gaming notebook? after trying to get new video cards or RAM for my Dell inspiron 1545, I found out that I cant do that. Because I asked twice here and people explained this is impossible unless you have a notebook specfically built for that. So I looked around and one name came up on the top of google when I searched for "gaming laptops". Alienware. I've gone back there a couple of times and have decided to get the Alienware M17 notebook. I hear that they have very nice features such as thermal cooling, a fingerprint scanner, and the ability to update the video card. So this is what I have currently picked out- Memory: 4GB« Dual Channel DDR3 SO-DIMM at 1066MHz – 2 x 2048MB System Drive: Extreme Performance (RAID 0) - 500GB (250GB x 2) 7,200RPM (8MB Cache) w/ Free Fall Protection Operating System (Office software not included): Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium (64-bit Edition) with Service Pack 1 plus Free Windows 7 Upgrade Option Video/Graphics Card: Dual 512MB ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 3870 - CrossFireX™ Enabled! Processor: Intel® Core™2 Quad Q9000 2.00GHz (6MB Cache, 1066MHz FSB) This is going to cost me about $1,889. Yeah it makes me cringe, too. But my question is do I really need this? I need to know if I can tone it down to be a little lighter on my wallet. (Im getting my first job, minimum wage isnt exactly going to make this process quick and easy). What I would like is to be able to run Assassins Creed, Gears of War, and Prototype at max graphics and resolution while getting 30 fps. Let me know if there is a cheaper way to achieve this

Asus N71JV-TYo15V, good for normal use? Is the notebook good for gaming and working? What about Left 4 Dead 2? Would it be a good idea to buy it? I will also be using it for video editing and stuff, but will it stand for my purposes? I'm kinda light/extreme gamer.

Which of the following is the BEST laptop for gaming? Currently I am looking at 3 specific laptops. Now please don't jump on a certain one just because you have heard it was good (m17x). The other two may just be better. But I'm not quite sure.. What I'd want in a laptop is one that's powerful enough to run say a game like SPORE and Sims3 at the same time at highest possible graphic settings. If none of these could do that, please tell me which would come closest to this objective. The first laptop I am looking at is the Sager NP9850 with a Core2 quad extreme for processor, and 4 gigs of memory: http://www.powernotebooks.com/viewsystem.php?sysId=2868 The second laptop I am looking at is the Alienware m17x which also has a Core2 Quad extreme processor, and again 4 gigs of memory: http://www.dell.com/us/en/home/notebooks/laptop-alienware-m17x/pd.aspx?refid=laptop-alienware-m17x&cs=19&s=dhs The third and last computer I'm looking at is the Sager NP8760 with a i7 920 extreme processor and 4 gigs of memory (This one I consider the best, but I'd like your opinion): http://www.powernotebooks.com/viewsystem.php?sysId=2982 For all of the laptops I will be getting a standard disk reader (no blu ray) and 500 gigs of hard drive space. ***Keep in mind, I am not going all out. I have a strict $3,000 limit*** Thanks!

Is this gaming laptop a good build? I decided that my current laptop is no where near capable of playing games at full specs so I decided on having someone build one for me. If you can please tell me whether or not this is an adequate build and also whether or not I can improve it. (Don't hold back on the criticism) I apologize for the long list. Should I buy Asus or Medion laptop? Hi all, I'm in the market for a new 15.6" laptop to replace my ageing HP dv6-3060sa. The two choices I narrowed down to are that of a Medion and an Asus. Having not owned either of these brands before, I would like some advice because it's tough deciding between them. The Medion obviously has the better specs but weighs 3.5 kg, and the page does not offer information about the keyboard (which from what I've read is german and lacks buttons like home/page-up/page-down/insert/delete), rpm of the hard drive (which strongly needs to be 7200 not 5400) nor the battery life (which I want to be 2 hours at a minimum). Portability and good cooling is essential because I tend to travel a lot and I will use this machine for college and research but I also want to do some heavy gaming (BF3, SWTOR, Crysis 2 and other modern games) with playable frame rates. The Asus has a 2 year warranty unlike the Medion (which offers a 12 months warranty). ASUS also has a non-glossy screen (unlike the Medion as well) and weighs 2.7 kg (which I guess is fine because my previous laptop was 2.4 kg and I found it light enough to carry around). The Asus also offers HD+ resolution while the Medion goes up to 1366x768 pixels only. The CPUs and space capacities of both are identical but the GPU of the Medion is much more powerful (as notebookcheck.net says) than the one Asus has, and this is where my dilemma kicks in. Here are the links for the two laptops (I would akso appreciate any other recommendations of cheaper laptops in the UK that have more or less the same specs): ASUS (+750GB HDD 7200 RPM and 8 GB RAM): http://www.asuslaptop.co.uk/proddetail.php?prod=N55SF-S2213V (£954) MEDION: http://www.medion.com/gb/electronics/prod/MEDION%C2%AE+ERAZER%C2%AE+X6817+15.6%22+Laptop+%28MD97894%29/30012952A1?category=gamer_notebooks_22 (£929) Any help, recommendations, guidance is appreciated. My budget is up to £950 and I want to pick the system that will be future proof in terms of specs and durable in terms of hardware quality (2-3 years). I already have a good external cooler (Antec Notebook Cooler 200) but I don’t want the laptop to have extreme overheating problems (as my previous HP did). I live in London and I have owned a Dell before, it was a horrible purchase as I kept getting BSOD twice a day and it was constantly being repaired on an almost monthly basis.

Help! What is the speed difference between these two processors, and memory sticks? I'm going to be buying a dell notebook for school, the 17" e1705 (at least I think for right now). I have to go with a dell because the school gave me a $500 dell gift card, otherwise I might have gone with an HP just for asthetics alone... Anyway, I don't have a lot of money, but I'm looking to get the best of what I can with what I have. I can choose between: 1GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz 1GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz Is $50 worth the extra MHz? And also: Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T5200 (1.60GHz, 2MB L2 Cache, 533 MHz FSB) Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T7200 (2.00GHz, 4MB L2 Cache, 667 MHz FSB) Is this worth the extra $150? If not on either the money I save may be able to get me the Ultrasharp LCD with Truelife display instead of the regular screen. To help I'm going to be doing some gaming, but not an extreme amount.. I can't wait for Spore. I'm not sure what other games I would really buy right now. I am all for editing photo's and video however. Help is appreciated!

Should i reallu need to use a notebook cooler? Dear Sir/Madam,please read my problem and help me doing better. Mine is Compaq CQ41-209TU.I use it as my desktop replacement.I use it for multiple tasks from word processing to extreme gaming. My processor is only 2.27 GHz (Core i5) which speeds up automatically to 2.53 GHz using Turbo Boost tecnology.I often play highly graphical games like "Call of Duty- Modern warfare ",'Half Life" etc which requires 2.26 GHz clockspeed(according to the DVD box cover). While playing, I notice that the fan of the processor creates speedy heat air which is so hot to warm up my table surface.I play games for 2-3 hours continuously. I am afraid if this overheating may harm the processor as well as notebook life.I use my notebook for at least 5-6 hours a day. while buying, the salesman told me that its unnecessary to add a cooler as it has a good cooler built in.But i m in a fix whether i really need to grab a coolpad or not? Thanks for reading my problem with care.please, suggers me what would be better solution for me.......Waiting for ur kind response. Thank you.
Would you be impressed if your mate had a laptop like this one? Alienware M17 with: Display: 17-inch WXGA 1440x900 & 2.0 Megapixel Webcam Graphics: Dual 512MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3870 - CrossFireX enabled Processor: Intel Core 2 Extreme Quad QX9300 Mobile Processor Memory: 8GB Dual Channel DDR3 1066MHz Optical Drive: 8X Dual Layer DVDR/W Combo, Blu-ray Reader/Writer Storage: 1TB in a RAID 0 Configuration Security Options: - Facial Recognition - Voice Recognition (Software added after shipping) - Fingerprint Reader Capable of running any game on the planet on High, Very High or Extreme Settings. Would you want a laptop like that? Please just answer with yes or no and why. Do not talk about other laptops and do not say it is overpriced for £3000. Thanks. How much can I get if i sell my Dell XPS laptop .? Full details on the laptop about 2 years old and have to replace battery . Dell's Inspiron XPS gaming notebook. Dell's new gaming notebook series, the Inspiron XPS, combines top-tier Intel desktop processing oomph, via the 3.4-GHz Pentium 4 Extreme Edition chip, with a 128MB ATI Radeon 9700 graphics chip for smooth video and game playback. It will cost you a hefty $4349, but that includes access to a special queue of tech support reps with gaming know-how. For an additional fee, a Dell technician will come to you to install graphics upgrades. Our shipping unit performed well, scoring 125 on PC WorldBench 4 (not a specific gaming test). That wasn't quite enough to beat a Voodoo Envy M:855 gaming laptop with a 134 score at a resolution of 1024 by 768 pixels, but the XPS was on a par with 1.7-GHz and 1.6-GHz Pentium M systems we have tested. The XPS's high native resolution of 1920 by 1200 probably slowed performance; a lower resolution likely would up the score. (See more test results involving the P4 EE.) This laptop carries pretty much everything a traveling gamer would want, including 1GB of RAM, a 60GB hard disk, a 15.4-inch wide-aspect LCD screen, and a 4X/4X/8X DVD+R/RW and 16X/10X/24X CD-RW combination drive in a modular bay. You also get external controls for sound and the optical drive, as well as one FireWire port, four USB 2.0 ports, an ethernet port, a 56-kbps modem port, a PC Card slot, and built-in Wi-Fi. Game images were smooth. The stereo sound, complete with a subwoofer, produced good bass and above-average notebook audio. Like those on most gaming laptops, the XPS's 12-cell battery died young (after 1 hour, 44 minutes). The XPS weighs 11.8 pounds with AC adapter. Still, its top-notch video and good sound will please deep-pocketed gaming fans. They info I got from it is from 2009 .and it not exact mine... I was modified by owner and Im replacing the batter myself 70g and I think its 2-3 g ram , The graphic card is a newer one aswell

How should I design an Alienware? First of all, with computers I am mostly into Multimedia Production/Encoding, Extreme gaming, I do a lot of multitasking, and I tend to download a lot of stuff (often really big files). I want it to be as good as possible, but at the same time, I am only 15 years old. I have a job and tons of other side stuff to make money. Such as exercising, chores, selling stuff to people, and even more. I just need some good advice on what I should have in the box. ^^ DO NOT TELL ME TO NOT GET ONE BECAUSE THEY'RE EXPENSIVE OR AN OVERKILL AND DO NOT TELL ME ANY ALTERNATIVES. I'VE WANTED AN ALIENWARE FOR A LONG TIME. I would prefer a desktop, not a notebook.. Please go to this area, choose a computer, customize what's going to be in the box, and accesories and games. By the way, don't select office products or antivirus stuff. I can get AVG free online. Thank you very much ^^ Oh! go here to custmozie it. Remember to make it so it fits my needs. You don't have to pay for it. ^^ http://www.alienware.com/product_pages/desktop_all_default.aspx

Help me choose the right notebook? It certainly depends on what you need the notebok for. But I am having a hard time deciding which of these notebook I should get. Macbook Pro and Dell XPS M 1710. Both notebooks are costly, but both are unique. People say Mac doesn't play games well compared to PC, and PC is vulnerable to viruses compared to Mac. Lightweight: I need a computer that is light. Mac wins in this category... But is Lacks media card reader and some other ports; only 90 days of toll-free technical support.... Plus, only 3 months without payments and interest. Dell: Very heavy, weighs approximately 10 pounds. Not good for a traveling notebook at all, man. But it doesn't lack anything aside from lightweight. It plays the latest games, very good at editing movies and 3D applications, and extreme eventual upgrade availability. Plus, it has Media direct, which allows users to access the HHD without booting up windows. Mac supports two OS. However, I can only afford one. Dell or Mac?
Will my Sony Vaio notebook with these specs run descent games fairly well? I just bought a new Sony Vaio FW Notebook and I was wondering if it is able to run games without too extreme of graphics (Like World of Warcraft or Counter Strike).. Here are the basic specs: Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo CPU T5800 @ 2.00GHz Memory (RAM): 4.00 GB System: 64-bit OS Graphics Card is a Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset Family I know the computer has a descent/good processor and ram, but I am kind of worried about the graphics card. Am i still able to run basic games? Thanks
Are these good specs for a Mac? NEED QUICK RESPONSE? I know nothing about computers really, but I know this is a steal for a MacBook. Most ambiguous computer website question ever!? OK, This is gonna be a real duzy of a question to answer, mainly because of the vague information i have to go on for you guys. So here it is: A few months ago I came across this really awesome website that was a custom computer builder, it was very "bright" lots of orange and blue textures and computer images everywhere (i know, not very helpful), anyway this site let you customize any computer system you wanted: pc's, laptops, notebooks, etc. It sold parts made by virtually everybody, and gave me a level of customization that I've never seen since, problem is I forgot to bookmark it, and so when the next day my computer ran it's scheduled CCleaner, i lost the address, and have never been able to find the site since, and believe me I've looked hard. It wasn't a company like alienware or pugetsystems - one that sold it's own product - just a customization one. Websites that I've tried and haven't been it include: digitalstormonline, cyberpower, gamepc, shopl2, sagernotebook, and avadirect, among other similar ones. The best way I could describe the site (in terms of how it looked) would be a combination of shopl2.com, newegg.com, and tigerdirect.com (again with a blue and orange color scheme). In terms of It's functionallity, it would be similar to any of the websites i listed in the above paragraph, and it's method of selection utilized both "bubbles" and drop-lines (as far as i can remember). It also offered up to 48GB of RAM for memory, something that I haven't found elsewhere, and so might be a distiguishing detail. Also, I did copy the systems I built using the site, one pc and one laptop, and the details I will list below in case any of the parts listed provide a clue or answer for someone. Finally I found the site as a link on another website (which I also cannot recall). So please help! I will be keeping this question open for as long as possible, so please, as many people as possible, please help me out! Thank You in Advance! using RAM as VRAm on dell inspiron 1150 Laptop? I have an old dell inspiron 1150 laptop (2.5Ghz, 1.25 GB Ram Intel extreme 82852/82855 graphics for notebook) And I was wondering if I can use some of my RAM as VRAM. I have tried through the dell BIOS, but there is no option for it. I have already googled it and found nothing. I only want to make games like unreal tournament GOTY better =)
