Overheating Asus G73 Gaming Notebook? I've read that an overheating GPU in the Asus G73 laptop is very common and I know my laptop has been overheating. (A few minutes in to a graphically intense game the system will completely shut down) I got a laptop cooler pad that it works great, ever since I got it the laptop has been running much cooler and hasn't had a shutdown since I've been using it. The thing is, I can only play games now on the PC if I use the cooler, does this mean the hardware is damaged? Or could I reapply thermal paste to help prevent overheating? The laptop used to run fine for long periods of time running graphically intense games but after a certain point passed it can no longer run nearly any game longer than a few minutes. If I want this problem solved is the only option to hope my warranty is still good and to hope for a new G73?

Which laptop is better for gaming? I'm planning on buying a laptop, probably one of these two. Which one in your opinion is better for playing Dragon Age: Origins and for gaming in general? Either of these should be enough I think but I'm not really an expert. I also have some doubts about the GPU. I know that a desktop is better for gaming but I can't get one for several reasons. I need to replace my old notebook computer. I want a new one.? I prefer a Widows OS, and have $1200 bugeted for the purpose. My needs are fairly simple, I am not into gaming. I use my computer for email, research, photo editing, and I'd like to be able to download music. I want a reliable unit with a warranty and decent tech support. What are your recommendations?
Is this gaming laptop a good build? I decided that my current laptop is no where near capable of playing games at full specs so I decided on having someone build one for me. If you can please tell me whether or not this is an adequate build and also whether or not I can improve it. (Don't hold back on the criticism) I apologize for the long list. Also I'll be recording with fraps. I record videos so I need to be able to record on high settings. The games include Left 4 Dead 2, Portal 2, DotA 2, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Basically the valve games. I might play MW3 from time to time, but I wasn't planning on using fraps for MW3. Or setting the Video Settings to high. So is this a good gaming laptop? Need a good gaming computer. HELP.? So I don't know a lot about specs for computers. I just love playing on computers. Right now all I have is a cheap netbook that I can't do a lot on. I want a good gaming computer. One that will let me play online with others with games like Halo and also play my Sims games. I don't want it to lag up on me. I tried playing Halo on my netbook and it was working fine until I got to a battle scene. Then there was no way to play. So I went to iBuyPower.com and custom configured a computer. I choose stuff that I saw someone else had choose for the most part. If there is anyone out there with gaming computer knowledge I would be greatful for your input. Here is what I picked out for $825 before shipping. Gateway MD-2601U Notebook CPU Cooling Issue? So I purchased this Gateway back in Jan 09. Since then, I have found the CPU temps getting warmer and warmer, to a point that watching a You Tube videos would make it shut down - CPU fail safe doing what it is designed to do. So I took the fan off and threw some Arctic Silver paste on the chip which has helped greatly. However, the CPU (AMD Turion X2 Dual-Core Mobile RM-72) is still running pretty warm. The average temps on my notebook for this CPU are 80c and each cores are 76c (tested with Everest). With a load, I am pushing Mid 90s easy. So I call Gateway up and has them what the operating CPU temp on this product? They tell me the temp is suppose to be 85 c -95 c. This is confusing me because CPU-World.com states the max operating temp for this CPU is 100c!!! No wonder why I am over heating and shutting down. Is Gayway a lost cause at this point? The notebook is still under warranty ..... should I just send it to them? Here are a few more variables (1) When I got the notebook, I immediately removed the hard disc and replaced it with a faster larger disc and installed XP. It was a Shitsta OS and I wasn't having any of that. So Could Gaywy void my warranty for doing this? (2) Could this new drive be an issue with the cooling perhaps? I know it sounds very far fetched but .........? The standard drive was a 5400RMP disc (forget the make) and the new disc is a 7200 Seagate 300gb. (3) Since I put the Arctic Silver on, the CPU has done better, but there is still an issue. Could Gayway void my warranty for applying thermal grease to my chip? (4) Am I doing something wrong? I am not running hardkore software with massive requirements.I play some basic games, Spore being the most graphical and Spider Solitaire being the more basic. (5) Does anyone have a CPU temp issue with this model/family notebook aside from me? (6) Since Gayway is stating the CPU running temp is 85c - 95c, is it really worth it to ship it to them so they can send it back 6 weeks later and tell me nothing is wrong with it? Some advise would be helpful here, from someone who has dealt with these guys before. Some general info on this subject - Thanx http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/K8/AMD-Turion%2064%20X2%20Mobile%20technology%20RM-72%20-%20TMRM72DAM22GG.html http://www.gateway.com/product_spec.php?product_recid=529668224 Boris, I agree about voiding the warranty with changing the hardware. Yea, I am sure I can set it up back to default, and send it in to them. I had thought about a cooler as well, I just don't feel "I should have to" as a necessity to keep my notebook from overheating,
Where can I find a Notebook/Laptop of my preference under $1000? Hello, I'm in a bit of a dilemma. My desktop computer went kaput earlier this year. After giving up on ever getting it fixed, I've decided to purchase a notebook/laptop computer instead. Now I have a $1000 budget. And here is the minimum of what I am looking for in a computer. [Windows XP] Operating System [2GB] Memory [60GB] Hard Drive [NVIDIA GeForce] Video Card [Wireless] Network Card [LAN] Network Card [Dail-Up] Modem [Dual Core 2GHz] Processor & Some sort of warranty. Is it possible to find all these features in a notebook/laptop for under 1k? Or at least something similar. If so, please tell me where I can find one. I've checked Dell, and they only support Vista now. And from what I see, Vista sucks for games which is what I will be using this computer for. Also, if you know a place on the internet, please leave a URL.

looking for a new notebook? I am planning to purchase a Notebook pc. I would like it to be fast and operate smoothly(fast processor and lots of RAM). The only networking device i need is WiFi, and while i don't play games very often, i would like the ability to play modern 3d games on the occasion that i do. with my old one i was unable to install games because it did not have a 3d accelorater, so this time around i want to get a machine with one of those. as far as size goes, small and thin is good. I am considering a cd/dvd burner, but im not sure if i want that, because i'm trying to stay below $1,000. I would like to find the best deal on this machine that i can, so the cheaper, the better. my goal is $1000 or below, but i may go over. I need a full warranty that will cover accidents that are my fault such as droppages, spillage, or electrical shock. Thank you very much for your help!
