Need help buying a gaming notebook? after trying to get new video cards or RAM for my Dell inspiron 1545, I found out that I cant do that. Because I asked twice here and people explained this is impossible unless you have a notebook specfically built for that. So I looked around and one name came up on the top of google when I searched for "gaming laptops". Alienware. I've gone back there a couple of times and have decided to get the Alienware M17 notebook. I hear that they have very nice features such as thermal cooling, a fingerprint scanner, and the ability to update the video card. So this is what I have currently picked out- Memory: 4GB« Dual Channel DDR3 SO-DIMM at 1066MHz – 2 x 2048MB System Drive: Extreme Performance (RAID 0) - 500GB (250GB x 2) 7,200RPM (8MB Cache) w/ Free Fall Protection Operating System (Office software not included): Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium (64-bit Edition) with Service Pack 1 plus Free Windows 7 Upgrade Option Video/Graphics Card: Dual 512MB ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 3870 - CrossFireX™ Enabled! Processor: Intel® Core™2 Quad Q9000 2.00GHz (6MB Cache, 1066MHz FSB) This is going to cost me about $1,889. Yeah it makes me cringe, too. But my question is do I really need this? I need to know if I can tone it down to be a little lighter on my wallet. (Im getting my first job, minimum wage isnt exactly going to make this process quick and easy). What I would like is to be able to run Assassins Creed, Gears of War, and Prototype at max graphics and resolution while getting 30 fps. Let me know if there is a cheaper way to achieve this

I really want the Alienware notebook because i want to play games in more than just one spot. That might sound weird, but my family has 4 desktops and zero notebooks. Also,I am only 14 and can't raise money that fast. I just want some peoples opinion on Alienware or the 9800 or some general ideas. Thank You!

How can I "upgrade" my notebook computer? I purchased SCII a few days ago, and while playing it on it's slowest possible settings on my HP notebook, am experiencing lag. Here are the specs of my computer: IntelCore2 Duo CPU T6500 @ 2.10GHz 4 GBs of DDR2 RAM Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family (64MBs of dedicated VRAM, 1.7GBs total) The reason the gameplay is sucking is because my videocard is terrible. This brings me a few questions: If I'm comfortable with opening up my laptop and fiddling on the motherboard, where can I find a graphics card for my HP laptop that I can swap? (Does such a place/website exist?) If such a place doesn't exist, what else can I do to this 2009 laptop to help improve it's gaming-performance? (Would overpowering the RAM help when the issue is a videocard issue?)
i just purchased a hp notebook dv7 and i want to upgrade my grafics card how do i do it? it now has a ati hd3200 card and it does not let me run games such as call of duty 4 it is very slow
Where to get a good gaming laptop/notebook for around $1,000? I know laptops arent for "gaming" However, i do not do most of my gaming on my computer anymore. Game i use my current desktop for: World of Warcraft Combat Arms and a few other older games. nothing new, all the new top-end games i get for my xbox 360 I was looking at buying a new computer, and i thought about getting a laptop instead of a desktop. So i can take my computer anywhere i go, and use my cell's blue tooth for Internet anywhere (i do this for my pocket pc) My budget is around $1,000, and was thinking about getting an alienware laptop. However, i know Alienware was bought out by Dell, and dell can be a bit.. pricey.. So any suggestions? Or would getting an alienware be good? I want to be able to play World of Warcraft good, more then good really, i want to be able to walk through dall without an ounce of lag, be able to run at good graphics settings and everything with my FPS topped off. My current computer is old.. and very much so out of date. Dell Dimension 3100, 1.5gb ram, 256MB Nvidea GeForce 8500GT video card (PCI, -not- PCI-E, and yes there is a PCI version for this card, do not try and argue with me like some other kid did please) Definently nothing remotley close to a gaming computer, but it runs what i have OKAY. Right now im taking a break from WoW.. as my current video card has actually decreased my performance from upgrading from an integrated one. My guess is because its a PCI, and has shitty bandwidth. Anyways.. i just want a great laptop for everyday Internet use, that can run WoW without any problems at all, for around $1,000 Can i do it?
