Notebook: how to get the most out it.? Hi, My notebook is the Toshiba Satellite L300-171. The specifications are: Intel dual-core T2390 (~1.9 Ghz) intel gma x3100 (358 MB) 3 GB ram I want to make it faster, and I've tried this on different ways: -overclocking: seems to be impossible because of a locked bios - cant find other software for intel overclocking. -upgrading RAM (from 2 GB - 3 GB) Actually there aren't any other ways to reach the maximum out of a notebook (as far as I know) Now my question to you is: Is there a way to upgrade, overclock etc. something from my notebook to make it faster, better etc. For the ones who know it, does windows 7 boost the intel x3100, or make it run better and smoother (with gaming etc.)? Thanks Please remember: Every information can help me! If you know anything about it, please help me with it.. By the way: -Im not going to buy a new laptop or desktop. -I know about mxm but my laptop doesn't support it -I've heard of external solutions by asus, ati, magma.. but they aren't yet for sale or too expensive.

What framerate will the new mackbook air be able to produce when playing crysis at low setttings? I know that the new macbook air will run crysis, this is because the Asus N10J A1 can and it has worse specs. I don't want to have suggestions to alienware or whatever, Ive already got a gaming notebook, I'm just wondering what the new macbook air will do, p.s. can you overclock a mackbook air, and if so what will the framerate be then yeh if i'm going to get a mac for gaming I'm going to get something small, this might seem wrong but if I'm going to use a gaming machine its either going to be really big or really small, and well if I want something large Id get a 1400 dollar gateway notebook that could beat a totally pimped out macbook pro

Thanks in advance, TheMiltos21 Happy New Year btw.

Laptop can't run Star Wars Force Unleashed + heating problem? Hey guys... I've been having problems to run Star Wars Force Unleashed (the game gets really slow specially when there are several characters and too much fighting going around)...I know it is a very demanding game and I also heard all the critics people are saying about the requirements to play it...but anyway, I would like to play it...i've tried using the patch and changing my video card settings to increase performance but the problem persisted I have a notebook HP dv7 1024el with the following specs: INTEL CORE 2 DUO P7350 2.0GHz 1066MHz 3MB CACHE RAM DDR2 667MHz 4GB (2X2GB) - supports max of 8GB (2X4GB) HD 250GB 5400 RPM SATA NVIDIA GEFORCE 9600M GT 512 MB dedicated - up to 1791 MB when sharing Vista 32bits I don't know if it is a good gaming Laptop, all I know is that it heats up a lot once in a while, which definitely affects my performance So my main question is this: What can I do to improve my notebook performance for Gaming? I have the following ideas and would like comments: 1 - increase RAM to 8GB 2 - install win7 64bits 3 - overclock 4 - undervolt 5 - start running games with my notebook inside the fridge - just kidding...but using a good notebook cooler helps? 6 - or should i just sell this and buy a new one BTW: I have NO knowledge about overclocking and/or undervolting CPU or GPU on notebooks...but with the correct tutorial I am sure I can do it... I usually play my games with a Xbox 360 wireless controller and I connect my notebook on a Samsung HDTV...I just leave my notebook on the floor, sometimes with a big vent cooling it down...sometimes not but I don't think this has anything to do with my bad FPS in force unleashed...since games like Resident Evil 5 runs perfect thanks in advance...
Overclocking AMD Brazos Dual Core E450? Can i overclock my notebook wich has AMD Brazos Duel Core E450 1.65 GHz? I'm very new at this kind of stuff but I've decided to buy myself a cooling pad to cool down my computer. The reason why I've decided to overclock it is just because the CPU is only on 1.65 GHz and most of the games requires at least 2.0 GHz if not even more. So i read around on the internet about how to speed up your cpu, and then i came to something called overclocking, it is just that I'm not involved in these kind of things normally so I have no idea how to preform and do it safely, Í've read that it's not dangerous at all if doing it right. But if you overdrive it (too much volt) It'll end up melting inside, and that's what everyone is talking about.. So can please someon help me how to continue.. My computer is equipped witht the latest equippments so that's why i don't want to give up the chance of fixing my cpu when everything else is fixed.. / Romania!
How can i over-clock my computer? i have an asus g1 notebook. it's a vista core 2 duo, 32-bit. you can look up the rest here if you need to. http://usa.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=5&l2=61&l3=416&l4=0&model=1447&modelmenu=2 i just want to overclock my computer to make it run faster and support higher quality gaming. so, do any of you know how i can overclock this thing? or do you know of a site that will explain it to me? (i'm kinda new at computers, so i don't really know many technical terms) also, just knowing how i can get to my BIOS setting would be great! thanks i'm doing this for better gaming, but also to get experience with computers. i want to learn more about them, including how to build them, and i thought that this would be a good way to learn a little about it and it would also improve the performance of the computer.

Asus M50Sa w/ Radeon HD 3650, playing high end games - question I just recently got an Asus M50Sa (X55SR series) laptop with 4 GB ram, Core Duo CPU (2.5 ghz) and 32 bit vista (SP1) w/ Radeon HD 3650 (1024 MB VRAM). I'm reading that I should be able to run Crysis on at *least* all High. But I can only run it on medium (and the cutscenes still lag, not so much the main game). By the way, when I do "optimum selection" or whatever in the menu, it automatically sets it to "high". If that means anything. I haven't updated the video drivers. Are there any recommended drivers and/or other downloads I should get perhaps for vista also that are recommended? I am not super technically savvy so the best help to maximizing my game play would be grateful. Thanks. It's totally liveable on medium graphics, but heck if I can play on high (and I should be able to, some youtube videos claim they are running on only a 2.2 GHz duo core and still playing flawlessly on high settings) then I would like to. Overheating is certainly not the issue. And I shouldn't have to overclock (although that should probably let me go to Very High). My laptop is very cool, especially when I put it on my cooling unit (in fact, while playing Crysis, the whole notebook is cool to the touch except near the exhaust, and even then, only the exhaust itself is warm.) So it's not like heat is causing it to slow down.
How to disable Intel Turbo Boost technology? I have Acer Aspire 5745G notebook. Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit Intel Core i7 2.8GHz 4GB DDR3 RAM 1GB nVidia GeForce GT 420M When I play games, the Intel Turbo Boost technology monitor shows that the processor speed overclock to 3.4GHz (up to 3.4GHz). Then the heat goes very high. Fan is running very fast. So, I dont like that. It may reduce the processor life time. Isn't it? So, Im going to disable the Intel Turbo Boost technology. I searched everywhere. In BIOS setup also. But i cant find it. If you know how to disable it, please help me. Thanks.
Notebooks: A vs. B? A: T8100 Core 2 Duo (2.1 Ghz, 3 MB Cache, 800FSB) 2GB RAM 15.4" 1440x900 screen 2MP webcam (not really important to me) Nvidia 8600GT (DDR2 256MB) 120GB drive Vista Home Premium B: Core 2 Duo T5450 (1.83Ghz, 2mb cache, 667 FSB) 2GB RAM 17" 1440x900 screen 1.3MP webcam ATI HD 2600 XT card (GDDR3, 256MB) 250GB drive, with a slot for a swappable second drive Vista Home Premium Which will give me better gaming performance? "B" has an "overclock slider", but i don't know if that's marketing BS or not. Both CPUs are 45nm Penryns Both GPUs are 256MB Both RAM chips are 533Mhz (i plan to upgrade to 800Mhz 4GB anyway after i buy it) My main concern is video card, I bought a lappy with a T7300 and an 8400GS and was somewhat disappointed with its gaming performance. Will I see much better out of either of these? To all the people saying I should buy a more expensive one, I CAN'T AFFORD IT. I am stretching my $1000 budget as it is. They both cost $1050.
Overclocking laptop?
