Gaming Notebook FAQ Knowledge Base
Fallout 3 not starting on my notebook PC? I thought my PC met the minimum requirements but perhaps it does not. I bought Fallout 3 for the PC and am trying to run in on my Gateway notebook. I have 2GB of ram, a dual core AMD 64x2 processor, and an ATI Xpress 1500 video card. My PC is running Windows Vista Home premium with 160GB HD. The installation went smooth but when I try to run the game, it does nothing and Window's pops up the window "Fallout 3 has stopped working." Is my video card incompatible with Fallout 3? I downloaded and installed the latest patch from Bethesda's website and nothing. I ran in administrator mode, nothing. Set all the settings to lowest possible quality and you guessed it, nothing! Re-installed, nothing. Restarted the PC, well, you get the picture. I checked the list of compatible video cards on their website: http://fallout.bethsoft.com/eng/info/faq.html The lowest ATI card is the X1600. The Xpress isn't even listed unless that is the express. Is it possible to run Fallout 3 or did I waste money on this game? I already have it on 360 and love it, but I really wanted to experience it on the PC with the mods and console commands. Is there a mod to make it work with my video card? Is it even the video card? Please help.
