Build Your Own Gaming Notebook

How does this notebook computer rate? I don't know all that much about computers, and need to buy a laptop/notebook computer for my university study. I will use it mainly for online study materials/forums, as well as word processing & emails mainly. I'm trying not to pay a lot of money for it (up to $1400 AUD), and am considering a Compaq Presario CQ60-217TX. Can anyone give me some feedback on this computer? Would it also be able to run games like Spore?

Does macbook pro early 2011 has 3d gaming capabilities using shutter glasses? I am not talking about the display. I know that it is 2d but if I to connect it to 3D monitor would I be able to play 3d games, 3d movies, photos, etc? (Using 3d shutter glasses of course). The confusion comes to this: I googled the graphics card module and got to the site: http://www.amd.com/us/products/notebook/graphics/amd-radeon-6000m/amd-radeon-6700m-6600m/Pages/amd-radeon-6700m-6600m.aspx#2 which says that it has. But when I google around to forums people asking the same thing. They say NO! without any argument when it comes to Macbook Pro. Also, not many answers are around. how do you bypass a system requirement checking of a game? i want to play command and conquer 3 tiberium wars of my notebook but the video card is not supported. i know that my notebook can run it because it can run America's Army 2.8h and that game has better graphics. pls.. help me.. i want to play the demo.. show me the forums how to make it work without upgrading the graphics card.. i cant because its built in.. thanks in advance!

Macbook vs. Dell notebook? Hello, Im trying to choose between a macbook and a dell notebook. Ive never used a mac but here they are great, I dont need this for business or work or creating apps or editing or gaming or anything. New processor for my notebook.? I want to upgrade my laptop's processor for me able to play better with massive games like GTA IV, because i only got 16 - 21 fps when playing with high settings. Now, I don't know what processor can be replace for my laptop because, I really lack in knowledge about computers. And also, I don't know if my laptop's processor can be replaced or not because i red some forums that some laptops cannot be replaced by new processors. Imaginary roleplaying chatrooms/forums/sites/blogs? (description)? I have had a rough childhood. I didn't have a lot of toys or a good family or friends. But I did have my own little imaginary friend and we'd run through the woods located by my old house and escape the harsh life back at home. I made a map of the woods, and labeled all the places of my new land. I named it some name but i forgot. I'd pretend to be a princess and warrior and fight at war and have the time of my life. Anyways, about 9 years ago, we moved away and now I'm in high school. I forgot about my imaginary friend and my little imaginary land. About 2 months ago, I dug up an old notebook and found the map I made. Everything came back. I remember how much fun I had. Life now is dull and boring. I still am pretty lonely and bored. I have a big imagination and during classes I'll always pretend things are going on around me. I want to pretend again. I want to just have fun. It'd be great to roleplay with someone else. Not sexual or anything. I'd love a site to log on to and chat with people and just roleplay with people like me. Or is there a tumblr community or something? Anything? Thanks! (I realize that it's strange for a teen to play pretend. I don't need or want a counsler. I have almost no problem with my family and/or social matters (maybe), but certainly, I have problems with myself. I realize that my addiction to computer and internet has seized big values of my life. Please do not assume that I am addicted to the gaming, gambling, chatting, or sexual leisure online. I think I have really got the most of the computing and internet, I got answers for my quests in life: history, languages, hobbies, health, skill improvement, and other eye-openers, but I realized that at the end I just barely do not recognize myself. I knew that before the PC arrival, I was a simple human with a romantic and artistic mind inside, and then later I evolved to such a robot, to be precise: a slave of the technology. The internet had made me more tied to the PC, at first it delivered me the news of the world, marvelous things found there within the clicks and so on, but then made me deep drown into the pond of information. The cost and the lost Having knowledge to computer hardware made me always upgrade my gears. It made me spend big cost just to fulfill my lust over those times. My room is full with the old gears, gadgets, and things from online stores. My PCs and notebooks are full with MP3s, PDFs, and many things downloaded both free and paid. I also spent for many external/ portable harddisks for backing up and traveling. I do not mean to showoff, I just tell you how worse it was from time to time during about 20 years. I sometimes think about the lost time for repairing my gears, updating my softwares, browsing; and how many books that I have not read completely. There was a break One time, in two straight months last year, I spent my times with my son playing Tamiya, small racing cars in small tracks. It was wonderful that it made me totally forgot my computers. We have had most of the time together for racing, modifying, winding the wires for the tiny motors, etc. My wife was so amazed that the toys have made me away from the PC. It ended because of the coming rainy season that made us packed and boxed back the tracks and cars, and I simply switched back to the old routine. In search of healing I remember a precious phrase: Two kinds of those who lost; they are who looks for wealth and for knowledge. This phrase sometimes wakes me up but bad habit is addicting and I found myself always returned into that path. I think it is just similar to drug addiction. As the internet is an endless resource, I search through it for the cure, and I have found some articles about it and tried to implement them, but it always hard for me to liberate myself from my habit. I really hope that finally I find it in this forum, especially from you. Your helps, Please I know that some of you are familiar to manage some types of dependence, or maybe you have healed from the same situation. Perhaps those licensed, commercial sites sound modern and cool, but when it’s Neopets, that changes things quite a bit. Worse? Neopets forums. His avatar was identical to mine. This was no small deal. I had achieved this through over a hundred hours of gaming! Not cool. I checked out his profile, only mildly annoyed-cuz he was cute-that he was from Tino. Fierce competition developed, and at times both parties almost reported and blocked the other. We competed for points, obviously, and I had met my match. One day, I saw an ad detail regarding Legends in Vallco, saying that since the store was closing, everything was half off! This was big, since all the Neopets products there had codes, which translated to more points and victory! Yeah, that sounded real good. But, it started tomorrow, and that was Wednesday. Choosing Legends over school was no big deal, since the future of Thursday was so far off. So I went there and waited outside the mall entrance. I guess I walked too fast, it was only 8:45, so I slumped by the doors and tried to do chem, justifying this stupid decision. Then I saw a person-perhaps girl?-walk quickly to MY entrance. “…what.” My voice sounded flat, but my heart jumped like a kangaroo on crack. “Uh…” Yup, the first meeting, wow. We were an intellectual bunch. I felt like some guy, like the one from those KFC commercials, would be saying, “Stay in school, kiddos! Ha ha ha!”The fierce competition kinda melted away, but as timing would be, the cleaning lady in that brown-greenish uniform unlocked the doors. Note: not before she had given us the one over, an incredulous sigh, and the eye roll. Oh, did I say something about the kiss? Yikes. Pulled out that cursed notebook to document the meeting… Awkward. nVidia mobile graphics problem? Hi, it's been a while since I asked something, but now I have a question about my nVidia GT 540m. The laptop is quite new, bought in June 2011. Specs: i7-2630QM GT 540m (1GB) 4GB RAM Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit At first (about 3 weeks) everything worked perfectly, until I tried updating my drivers to 275.33. I uninstalled my nVidia driver (266. ... something), and installed the new one. At the same time I was installing it, my notebook was re-installing old one. The 275.33 gave no error and I restarted. After about 3 days, when I turned on my computer, everything started fine, but the screen tone, which is usually blue, changed to yellow/gold. Now it happens about every 2nd time I turn on my computer. This can be fixed by changing power options to Power Saver (the screen goes black for 1-2 seconds, and the tone becomes blue again) and back to Entertainment/Gaming etc. Recently it has been quite annoying to me. I tried returning to my old drivers - nothing changed. I tried installing the 275.33 again, but this time without auto-driver-update by Windows. The update failed like for hundreds of other people on nVidia forums. So my question is - has anyone else encountered the screen colour/tone changing, and if so, how did you fix it? Thanks in advance. Just noticed another, faster way to return the colour to normal - from Intel (idk, why, because my graphics options are set to use nVidia at all times). Under colour enhancement, if I move gamma at least a bit, it returns to blue colour and when I return settings to how they were, the blue colour stays.

Yesterday was the worst day of my life? Today (Friday, September 25, 2009) was the worst day of my life. The fifth item on my list was the worst. I also run the only two fansites that exist for the game, am an active poster on the (un)official forums and am the primary contributor to the (un)official wiki. Notice how I put (un) before official, because even though they are official, nobody uses them, they all use my fansites instead, so it's like they are unofficial. 9: InvisionFree/ZetaBoards still hasn't replied to the e-mail I sent them regarding a tech support question I have. 10: I just found out that the last surviving (pretender) king from the Sublime Ottoman State (more commonly known as the "Old Ottoman Empire") has died. 11: I am not even supposed to be on the computer right now but I am anyway, despite my parent's wishes (and they don't know), which goes along with them being lalalalalala bags. 12: I missed a whole lot of class time because I had to talk to Officer Denbow (and several teachers) regarding my "stolen" notebook (which contained not only all my notes and written work for three different classes, but the rough draft of my short story, "Sole Survivor: Through My Eyes"). 13: I found out that Kaddi Kuhlewind (the owner of SS Free Germany and my ex-girlfriend) still has feelings for me (as more than just a friend), even though we both agreed to only be friends (but this is sort of a good thing...sort of...). Don't give me that "You aren't a starving African child!" shit, or anything like that. Problems loading MapleStory, please help? I recently downloaded the game, and upon opening it to begin playing, I am quickly kicked out and given the message of "You have been disconnected from the login server. Please try again later." I did wait awhile, in fact a few days, and the message always knocked me out of the game. Sometimes I'd actually make it to the character selection screen and try to play, but the message would always come back. I sent tickets to Nexon, but after 3 or more days I decided to stop checking it. (I'm checking it now, and the ticket is still Open). I asked my friends for some help, and one told me to play the game through it's game launcher in its folder, but that only let me play the game for a minute before being disconnected again. I heard on the Nexon forums about NOD32 and your antiviruses and firewalls, and listing maplestory.exe on allow, but I don't really know how to do that. Plus I believe I already have because after I "tried allowing" them on Windows Firewall and NOD32 Antivirus, MapleStory begins to work and then closes and my computer says it has to close the game I also read online about winsock, but I'm having complications with that as well... I think I need assistance with it. The game gives me the message: You have been disconnected from the login server. Please try again later. My computer is a year old, working fine. I've tried since the 20th or the 21st. -_- Please, nobody say the servers are down. I still get d/ced on whatever server I attempt to log on to.

If I have multiple internet explorer's open and if I close one of them they all close? What is the problem? Well title says all but I will restate with more information. This has been happeening ever since I had this computer. There is NO VIRUS. I have taken it into several shops that specilize in viruses and have done several virus scans including numerous manual scans of system 32 to find anything unusual. I am not exactyl a genius with a computer but I am not stupid either lol. Ok, I usually browse with multiple windows to different things such as chat on forums, check email, that type of thing. When I got this new computer which is excellent, everytime I hit the X at the upper right hand corner or any other means of exiting the window such as Alt + F4, then it says Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. ALL windows close then. Of course the easy fix to this is simply..... browse whilst in tabs. That's not a problem. UNFORUNTLY, I am a gamer haha. I love to game online with friends. I usually stick to the online downloadable games, which again was a problem since it opens the download confirmation window in a new smaller window which automatically closes itself( which happens on ALL computers) but it just doesn't close down the OPEN SAVE AS or CANCEL window thing on most. It does mine. This makes it impossible to download games. I fixed that by right clicking on the download " Open in new tab" since I don't have a problem closing out tabs and it can download fine. On some downloads it will not give me that option. So if anyone has any idea on how to fix this would be excellent and you will be getting 10 Points. I will be checking this frequently so please ask for any more information you might need. THANKS! Why does my Sims 2 crash my computer and how do I fix it? I've already read all the others posted and they don't have the same type of crashing I do. I've been to read forums and those haven't helped either. I'm reaching to you, Answers community to resolve my problem. I have every single Sims 2 and loads of custom content. I played the game without the custom content and it still did the same thing it's been doing. I can play for maybe 10 minutes and then my cursor disappears, followed by a blue screen of text that says I have installed new software that has caused the crash and I need to restart my computer, which I do. I have uninstalled and reinstalled, I actually bought all new games to see if maybe mine were the problem. I have a brand new HP Pavilion dv4-1435dx Entertainment Notebook PC. I've seriously had it for maybe 3 months. Why is it crashing and how do I fix it? I just want to play my flippin game. @ # 2, I don't have vista, I have windows 7. Am I allowed to upgrade the graphics card? How would I go about choosing one?

Sims 2, build and buy mode glitch, please help!? I'm a huge fan of the sims 2. I have the Double Deluxe version, University, Open for Business, Season, Apartment Life, and Fun With Pets. I had all installed on my laptop at one time, but completely wiped it clean for better performance. (Just a side note, I had all of these on my mom's PC at one point, it's not the best PC, but the games played perfectly.) Ever since I installed them again I have a weird glitch during build and buy mode. The screen is jumpy and if I try to build or buy anything (change wallpaper, place a chair, move/rotate an object, etc) the entire house disappears and all I can see is the floor for about 5-10 seconds. It makes game play frustrating and impossible. Anyone have any idea what this could be? I've checked a ton of forums and tried numerous suggestions (so many I'm not going to bother listing them, I'll take any advice at this point), but I have not encountered anyone with a similar problem. My Windows Vista Crashes... Why? Okay, I am running Windows Vista Home Premium on my Laptop. I know, there are a lot of websites on crashes, but mine are different in a way. That way is that my screen doesn't go black or just freeze, the screen actually goes diagonal, like if i was on a white web page, it would have white and black with blue all going diagonal in a pattern, and my mouse will look like it has a tail. It will all be frozen, and I can only get back on it by using the external power button. (Since i have my power button in my computer, on the start menu) I use my computer mostly for coding Java and C++. I also play games on it, but only a few. Other then that I am either coding, talking on a forums, or listening to music. Please help. Why not a Alienware Aurora for $1299? Almost every site or forum I visit to research Alienware computers say they are junk and a waste of money. They never really give any reasons and just say to build your own instead. I priced the Alienware Aurora (not ALX) components at newegg.com and you might save about $50-100 building it yourself. I'm beginning to think that there are a bunch of people just brand bashing without giving any real reasons besides 'they suck'. I want a prebuilt gaming computer with lots of room for future upgrades, warranty, support and Alienware Aurora seems to fit that quite nicely. Any thoughts would be appreciated, except 'they suck. WmiPrvSE.exe uses 40-100% cpu. and slows my system.I'm really sick it of it, (so best answer gets full points)? Hello, I have an Acer Aspire 8530 notebook. And a process called WmiPrvSE.exe uses alot of cpu(Mainly between 40 and 100%), so some things like watching movies or playing games gets impossible.Even scaling down graphics and screen resolution won't help. I tried to verify it. And found it in C:\Windows\System32\wbem\WmiPrvSE.exe. So some internet sites verified it as a windows utility, and not a virus. I came across a fix, something made by windows, which is SMS2003-SP3-KB937882-X86-ENU.exe But that won't work, when i run it it says i don't have the rights to do so. So i selected "Run as Admin' which solved that issue. But instead it told me there was not enough free space to run it. My wife is in denial of her online affair? We have been married for 10+ years, have two wonderful kids, and up until now a great life (I thought). A little history - she has been frequenting online forums (mostly sex type). I got concerned when I found some nude photos of her on the computer. She claimed they were for me, she just hadn't sent them yet. This set off red flags for me, so I started poking around her emails and sure enough there was another guy she was involved with. I confronted her about this, and she said it was just games, that it wasn't real. I asked her to stop, and she said she did. But I still had the feeling something wasn't right. I found a notebook of hers where she had written some of her feelings about him. Again I confronted her, she said it wasn't real, and then turned the whole thing on me for not giving her any privacy. Anyone with any experience with this? I don't know what to do...

i just got my gateway from hsn(4gm, webcam and red). i am wondering should i have bought a hp? i ordered it on home shopping network last week and it arrived this thursday. it lights up with these neat keypads and is a maroon red. problem is i don't like the keyboard like the hewlett packard notebook i use at the library. when i opened the gateway it already had some kind of errors/virus (5) . i only used the free game that is built into it and no internet to play with my niece. 2nd problem it wants me to use a backup, but i havent saved or added anything ( i believe i have to get a CD to store what is already on the system? why is it not providing me with a Restore disk? 3rd , i went on the hsn website to forums and its a gizillions complaints about gateway 's tech not speaking english, motherboards and shipping. wow! i need this for college and is not familiar with computers. should i return this and get a HP or wait for bestbuy. can i just continue using the hp pc at the college for my (one ) online class. please help

About "An Old Friend Returns", on Assassin's Creed II for PC: why won't uPlay give me my rewards? >>>POSSIBLE SPOILER<<< So after two months I finished ACII for PC, and I was naturally curious about this last action, called "An Old Friend Returns", which was supposed to give me the 40 points I need to unlock Altair's uniform at the Rewards section. I escaped the hideout and I did let the credits roll, but it was taking too long and I went to the fridge for something. I heard a little noise and came back running, but all I saw was Ezio standing at this room in Monterregioni, with all the conspirators' pictures there and, well, nothing else to do but hunt for the remaining treasures and feathers. When I finished that session, uPlay didn't take into account the fact that I already finished the game, and didn't unlock my points. I'm still missing those points, I can't play the last memory again (like it was possible in AC I), and not even watching the whole credits again from inside the game changes anything. I don't want to spend another two months overheating my notebook for that reward only. I'm kinda lost. No internet forum seems to have covered that. Anyone could help me with that, I'd really appreciate it.

Yesterday was the worst day of my life? Today (Friday, September 25, 2009) was the worst day of my life. The fifth item on my list was the worst. Feel fere to comment on all of the items listed individually or as a whole (or both), if you wish. 1: I left my chapstick at home, I ussually bring it to school every day. 2: I left a notebook in 6th hour yesterday and spent all day trying to find out who stole it, only to realize that it was still under the same desk I left it under in 6th hour; that one was just plain stupidity). My clan is also on that game, not to mention I payed them tons of real life money for special items and services in the game. It was closed for no reason whatsoever, all I did was make a post about how my cousin was dieing in the hospital, on the (un)official forums. I also run the only two fansites that exist for the game, am an active poster on the (un)official forums and am the primary contributor to the (un)official wiki. Notice how I put (un) before official, because even though they are official, nobody uses them, they all use my fansites instead, so it's like they are unofficial. 9: InvisionFree/ZetaBoards still hasn't replied to the e-mail I sent them regarding a tech support question I have. 10: I just found out that the last surviving (pretender) king from the Sublime Ottoman State (more commonly known as the "Old Ottoman Empire") has died. 11: I am not even supposed to be on the computer right now but I am anyway, despite my parent's wishes (and they don't know), which goes along with them being douche bags. 12: I missed a whole lot of class time because I had to talk to Officer Denbow (and several teachers) regarding my "stolen" notebook (which contained not only all my notes and written work for three different classes, but the rough draft of my short story, "Sole Survivor: Through My Eyes"). 13: I found out that Kaddi Kuhlewind (the owner of SS Free Germany and my ex-girlfriend) still has feelings for me (as more than just a friend), even though we both agreed to only be friends (but this is sort of a good thing...sort of...).
