What is a good gaming laptop/notebook under $300? The cheaper the better! I want a notebook not a netbook although netbooks are cheaper. Unfortunately i am on a very tight budget. I would like to play The Sims 3 on it which is why I ask for a gaming notebook. If the notebook isn't under the "gaming" category but still abides with the system requirements for the game I am ok with that. I would just really like some help with looking for a laptop. Thank You! The Sims 3 system requirement are here... http://www.thesims3.com/game/systemreq (Copy and paste into your browser if link doesn't work) Once again thank you!
What is the better gaming notebook to play WoW? I need help on picking the right notebook for me, I do travel often so I really need a new notebook instead of my old desktop. I would prefer notebooks that can run WoW smoothly with the highest video settings turned on. By that I mean 20~30 fps in towns and raids with great detailed graphics. Here are some good candidates that i found: Gateway FX Edition Laptop http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9172511&type=product&id=1218043606827 or MSI GT725 http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/02/msi-details-well-specced-gt725-17-inch-gaming-laptop/ Don't know the price on the MSI GT725 though my budget is approximately $1200-$1500 If you know any gaming notebook that is in that price range and is better that any of these two, please link
What Is An Excellent Gaming Notebook That Is Under $1000? Alright, I was considering purchasing an Alienware "Area-51 m15x", but everyone on Yahoo! Answers has convinced me not to. Still though, what is a good notebook that is under or close to $1000 that can provide an excellent gaming experience for me? I want a notebook that will give me great graphics, very little lagging, and lots of memory to hold lots of new up-and-coming games. For example, The Sims 3 is coming out soon so I want to have a great time playing that. And I also plan on downloading Saints Row 2 and Grand Theft Auto IV. Can anyone help me? If so, please provide the full name of the notebook you have in mind. Oh, and please don't tell me to go and make my own notebook.
Good gaming notebook from $1000-$1500? I've been browsing around looking for a good gaming notebook, but they all fall short of what I'm looking for. They either have a great processor with a terrible video card or a great video card with a terrible processor. I found one with both from alienware, but it was $3000. Anything over $1500 just doesn't seem worth it to me. Any help? Is switching processors on a laptop a fairly easy process? I've found this computer on bestbuy that seems to have great specs, but with a real lousy processor (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8781339&type=product&id=1204332769810) If I could change that it would be perfect for me. On another note, how dramatically does processor speed affect games?
Need help buying a gaming notebook? after trying to get new video cards or RAM for my Dell inspiron 1545, I found out that I cant do that. Because I asked twice here and people explained this is impossible unless you have a notebook specfically built for that. So I looked around and one name came up on the top of google when I searched for "gaming laptops". Alienware. I've gone back there a couple of times and have decided to get the Alienware M17 notebook. I hear that they have very nice features such as thermal cooling, a fingerprint scanner, and the ability to update the video card. So this is what I have currently picked out- Memory: 4GB« Dual Channel DDR3 SO-DIMM at 1066MHz – 2 x 2048MB System Drive: Extreme Performance (RAID 0) - 500GB (250GB x 2) 7,200RPM (8MB Cache) w/ Free Fall Protection Operating System (Office software not included): Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium (64-bit Edition) with Service Pack 1 plus Free Windows 7 Upgrade Option Video/Graphics Card: Dual 512MB ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 3870 - CrossFireX™ Enabled! Processor: Intel® Core™2 Quad Q9000 2.00GHz (6MB Cache, 1066MHz FSB) This is going to cost me about $1,889. Yeah it makes me cringe, too. But my question is do I really need this? I need to know if I can tone it down to be a little lighter on my wallet. (Im getting my first job, minimum wage isnt exactly going to make this process quick and easy). What I would like is to be able to run Assassins Creed, Gears of War, and Prototype at max graphics and resolution while getting 30 fps. Let me know if there is a cheaper way to achieve this
Are these good specs for a gaming notebook? I am building a gaming laptop, but trying to make something that will be able to stay fairly competitive for a while. I am using cyberpower as the site i'm using, b/c i have found that the components they have are at the best value for the buck. The following are the specs of the one I was thinking of building. I need some advice as to whether or not this is going to be a decent notebook, for playing most current games, and games to come. Overheating Asus G73 Gaming Notebook? I've read that an overheating GPU in the Asus G73 laptop is very common and I know my laptop has been overheating. (A few minutes in to a graphically intense game the system will completely shut down) I got a laptop cooler pad that it works great, ever since I got it the laptop has been running much cooler and hasn't had a shutdown since I've been using it. The thing is, I can only play games now on the PC if I use the cooler, does this mean the hardware is damaged? Or could I reapply thermal paste to help prevent overheating? The laptop used to run fine for long periods of time running graphically intense games but after a certain point passed it can no longer run nearly any game longer than a few minutes. If I want this problem solved is the only option to hope my warranty is still good and to hope for a new G73?

I'm planning to buy a laptop July 2007. Please Help me choose an appropriate one for gaming and work.? It's nearly summer now, and my school is requiring me to have a laptop next year, which is by about the end of July 2007. I'd like a fast processor, preferrably core 2 duo, and also a nice vga such as GeForce 7600 or the Radeon X1600. RAM prefer DDR2. i'll be using it for quite a lot of games, work like using word, and some music and movies. however, my problem is i have a budget of about $1500, and i know that's quite low to start for a gaming notebook. I've been looking at the ASUS F3Jp (http://www.notebookcheck.net/Asus-F3JP.2363.0.html) and the HP Pavilion dv6220TX (http://www.pcresource.co.th/computer/hp-pavillion-dv6220tx-intel-core-2-duo-183-ghz-t5600-vista-premium-200gb-hd-geforce-go-7400256-mb-p-4373.html) . Also, I've had some news that Intel will be releasing the Santa Rosa Platform soon, and need advice on whether to wait for it or not. Please give comments on whether the two models I have in my mind are good or not, and if there are other nice models for me please tell me

If I were on a budget looking for a notebook, should I buy a Gateway P-6831FX or an HP Pavilion DV9700T? Here's the situation: I'm on a budget of $1500 or less and I'm looking for a notebook for gaming/graphical design. I'm trying to choose between the Gateway: - Intel Core 2 Duo 5450 CPU 1.67 GHz - 3 GB DDR2 RAM - 250 GB HDD 5400 rpm - Nvidia GeForce 8800M GTS 512 MB GDDR3 - 17" 1440x900 display ...or the HP Pavilion 9730t with specs of: - Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo Processor T7500 (2.20 GHz, 4 MB L2 Cache, 800MHz FSB) - 17.0" WSXGA+ High-Definition HP BrightView Widescreen Display (1680 x 1050) - 3GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm) - 512MB NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GS - 250GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive Let's assume for a minute that everything else about these two notebooks were the exact same. Based on this information, which should I pick? I'm looking for a gaming notebook but I can't afford to spend anymore money on this laptop for future upgrades. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help. =]

Help with gaming PC components? I'm gonna buy a new custom-built Alienware m17 or m15x gaming notebook, but I need to be sure of how I'm gonna buy it. I know about all the different components, but some things have me confused, for example: 1. Which is better: a 3.2 GHz single-core, 2.8 GHz dual-core, or 2.26 GHz quad-core processor and by how much? 2. Do I need a faster processor for 4GB RAM than for 2GB RAM? 3.Do dual graphics cards need a faster processor or more RAM than single graphics cards? 4.Will a dual-layer blu-ray drive read game CD's and DVD's slower than an 8X dual-layer DVD-ROM drive? 5. Do i need a faster CPU or more RAM for multiple hard drives? 6. Does the built-in digital TV tuner need anything else (cable\satellite subscription, antenna) to receive channels? Also, if you have any recommendations for components like processor types/speeds, graphics cards types, etc., to be able to run the latest graphics-intensive games, please tell me. Also, please answer only if you actually know what you're talking about because that's a couple thousand bucks I'll be throwing down the drain if I order a laptop with parts that won't work right together. Thanks. I have a $3000 limit. maybe up to $3500 I know I might sound like an idiot (cause I do know about computers), but I needed to dumb myself down to make sure I got all the info I need; its better than pretending like I know everything and not getting any info.
Help with choosing a new gaming laptop? I've been battling with my Dell inspiron 5100 for too long and finally given in and started looking for a new laptop. I'm looking for a new gaming notebook, less than $2000, that can support most high end games. I don't know all that much about what I need, especially when it comes to the GPU. From what I've heard I should get something with: - Core 2 Duo, +2gHz processor - 2g Ram - 512mb GPU (Or is 256 okay..?) - min 120g HDD I was looking at a customized Toshiba Qosmio F45, but the GPU is only 256, but it looks alright for less than $2000...I'm not sure what brand to look for, or what specs are most important =( 1) Are these the specs I should look for? 2) What GPU is best value? (256 or 512?) 3) Any ideas for a notebook that fits the profile?
Need help choosing something for my custom gaming laptop? I am buying this laptop from IBuyPower.com http://www.ibuypower.com/Store/Battalion_101_X8100_Gaming_Notebook/w/25347 My question is about the harddrives. Apart from getting a 500g harddrive with 7200 rpm, I'm also getting a 64 gb SSD drive, so that my laptop can function faster and I can run the 1 or 2 games I'm playing at the moment very quickly. My question is, which one is the best? The "64 GB Kingston SSDNow V Series MLC SSD Single Drive" or the "64 GB Corsair Nova Series V64 MLC SSD Single Drive" ?
Is this a good notebook for gaming? I'm looking at this notebook from HP, and I was wondering if it's good for gaming and animation. I plan on not only playing games on it, but also designing them it as well. It's the HP Pavilion dv6700t series. Here's the page it was on: http://www.shopping.hp.com/series/category/notebooks/dv6700t_series/3/computer_store?jumpid=ex_r602_b2l1/hp.com/psg/ec/dv6700t And if that doesn't work, it's on the main page of hp.com. It's in a little grey box ad that says Stand Out. Thanks for the help!
Okay, so, severe crashing is happening on my notebook while gaming... Please help.? I have a Gateway T-1625 notebook on which I frequently play World of Warcraft. The computer will randomly crash while I'm playing the game (only happens when I have the game on) and then will continuously crash when I try to turn on the system after the initial crash. I've talked to Gateway tech support about this issue, where they offered me plenty of troubleshooting tips. So, yesterday I got to the end of the list where I uninstalled and reinstalled Vista and all of my other programs, including WoW (hoping that if it was a problem with WoW, uninstalling and reinstalling would help). So I log onto the game today, ten minutes in, it goes back to the same crap, so at this point, I honestly do not know what to do, but I need to find a solution because it's probably really bad for my computer, and I've already paid in advance for this game, so I would like to be able to play and get my moneys worth. If this is any useful information as well - This problem started happening to my system after the most recent expansion (Wrath of the Lich King) came out and was applied to my system. That's all the information I can come up with on the top of my head, but if you maybe have ANY idea how to fix this, please help me out!!!
Need help with PC gaming online.? Okay, so I'm thinking on becoming a PC gamer. Best Buy has everything I need. With the gaming notebooks with Vista, I'm asking if I can still do regular stuff like go on the Internet, e-mail, download content like music, videos, TV shows and games and game demos. Do I need a wireless router to connect to play or l need is a broadband internet connection? Also also can someone tell me what PlayOnline, how do I setup up an account for FFXI and where do I pay for it oh and what tetra master is? Pleas provide additional information or links that may help me. Thanks in advance.
