Gaming Notebook Hardware Reviews Knowledge Base
What is the best laptop for gaming? I have an Asus notebook and it runs my games reasonably well but the graphics aren't really out of this world and it overheats really easily when I play fullscreen. I'll be giving this one to a family member because I want to buy another one. Honestly, my old $200 Acer had better graphics than this, even though it was slower loading. I don't really care what the outside looks like, color and design wise (although the Alienware laptops look AWESOME) I just want a laptop that will make my games and movies that I watch look amazing (so a large screen) Also, the webcam on this Asus sucks sweet turtle drool. I wouldn't mind if the laptop had a good quality built in webcam. I would prefer not to spend more than $2,000 but don't let that price limit your suggestions, I could always finance it. I got mixed reviews on the alienware laptops, a lot of people reported problems with the hardware and poor technical support. So basically: -Good gaming graphics -Good quality webcam -$2,000 or less -Doesn't overheat easily I need help choosing, any suggestions?
IMPORTANT: should I buy this laptop? I'm an upcoming biomedical engineering major at RIT and I've been looking for a high performance laptop. I came across this awesome HP: http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/shopping/computer_can_series.do?storeName=computer_store&category=notebooks&a1=Processor&v1=Intel&a2=Solutions&v2=Students&series_name=dv6tqe_series&jumpid=in_R329_prodexp/hhoslp/psg/notebooks/Intel/dv6tqe_series Recently, it has been getting terrible reviews because it's hardware doesn't support OpenGl applications. I would settle for this other HP: http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/shopping/computer_can_series.do?storeName=computer_store&category=notebooks&a1=Processor&v1=Intel&a2=Solutions&v2=Students&series_name=dv7tqe_series&jumpid=in_R329_prodexp/hhoslp/psg/notebooks/Intel/dv7tqe_series but it's screen is 17" and that's too big. My point is: do you think I can still get this laptop, or will the hardware problem have too much of an effect on me? I'm not using it for any gaming at all, and my limit is $1000. Please help ! (:
Macbook pro compared to my current computer...? My current computer is a gateway p series notebook with a intel dual core processor at 2.26 ghz with 3mb cache, 4 gigs of ram, and an nvidia geforce 9800m gts with 1 gig of video memory. I am looking at the current mac book pro 17 inch with an i7 2.66 ghz, 8 gb of ram, and an nvidia 330 gts with 512 mb of video memory. I have searched for reviews on mac book pro benchmarks to compare to my computer but all the articles i have found feature a lesser geared 15 inch mac book or an older generation. I would like to have a general idea on how it would compare to my computer, really the only game I run is world of warcraft, but I do raid in it so I am seeing the most hardware demanding side of it. I know that a lot of people say macs just run better than PCs but it seems their hardware comes out less. unless there is something in the OS for macs that make better use of that hardware. It would seem my computer would run at least games just as good with the extra video memory.
