Computer Gaming Ability Test? Ok, so I was watching G4's Attack of the Show the other day (actually like a week ago) and I saw them testing a new notebook or something.. I forget exactly what, but they ran this program on it to see how smoothly it ran, it had things like a random line test or something, I'm really unsure on most of it (man I wish I had paid more attention <.<) But yeah I've been wanting to see just how good my comp is now that I've upgraded it, but with so many different games with so many different outcomes (Guild Wars runs worse than Age of Conan with everything maxed to high quality) I'm really just wanting to find a good test, not one that jut reads what is inside your comp and tells you what it SHOULD run but something that will run different scenarios and show you how well it DOES run. Yeah, well If anyone out there knows of such program whether or not it is the one used on Attack of the Show, I'd appreciate it if you shared a link or a hint as to what to search for. Thanks in advance! +Sorry, not sure if this goes in hardware or gaming but I'm going with gaming... As far as I know systemrequirementslab only shows if your comp meets the minimum requirements through a text interface, I'm looking for something that runs actual tests on the computer so you can see if it runs smoothly or even runs it at all. (I hope I'm making sense, I find ti hard to get this question into words.) 3Dmark looks promising, DL'ing it now.

how do i install new drivers for a dell alienwear laptop? Dell and alienwear seem to have some type of "fail safe" on there hardware that will only let you install drivers that they have tested on their website. but the problem is that the drivers on their site are almost a year old and some of them are even older. and my video drivers for the amd HD 6900M are so old that some games run very poorly. but on the AMD site the new drivers say they have fixed all the probs im having with the new drivers that i cant install. when i try to install the new drivers it says "AMD Catalyst: Modility cant be downloaded due to incompatible hardware/software on your computer. the version of your graphics adapter is not suported. please contact your notebook manufacturer" and i did contact them, and thats when they told me about the "Fail safe" thing. any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Hopefully someone here can help me? :(? I've been trying to fix my brothers laptop all day. It's an Hp Pavilion dv6-3122us entertainment notebook. It's been having blue screen of death error messages for the past couple of days. The error is the system encountered an uncorrectable hardware error and it was x124. It mainly happened when he tried to play this game Rune scape, and now it's within the first 30 seconds of loading the desktop. I ran the self tests, everything came back normal. I reset the ram modules, I checked for loose connections and nothing helped. The laptop was reformatted and windows 7 64 home premium was freshly installed on the computer. I tried to update the bios in safe mode but it wouldn't work. I managed to update the audio drivers in safe mode however when the computer restarted into the normal mode and crashed again, the drivers were not updated in safe mode when I previously updated them. I went onto HP Support Active Chat to see if anyone could help me and the guy I was talking to told me to try to update the bios during the normal mode despite the fact that I told him that the computer was crashing with the bsod error message. So I went ahead and did what he told me to do and the computer crashed during the erasing and writing stage of the bios update. Now the computer turns on for a few seconds and then shuts off immediately and repeats. They have told me on HP support chat that it's not covered under warranty even though they were the ones who told me what to do to make it not work like this. Any help? Please and thanks Yeah definitely not buying an HP anymore. I have a desktop that seems to be fine from them and so does my mom. This laptop is my brothers. How can I format it though if the screen wont show anything and it turns off almost instantly?

Laptop/Notebook for Photoshop CS5? Hi all, I've just started a new job which primarily has nothing to do with Photo Editing, however, they want me to some work for them on the side as I am familiar with the suite. So its a good excuse for me to invest in some new fast and efficient hardware :D That said, I am not too on the ball when it comes to the system requirements as usually I am just using a PC for the sake of it with out really understanding whats under the hood - Perhaps naive :( One small issue is that they are stretched for funds (Recession - Though I think that's a pretty cheap excuse :P) and won't fund or partially pay for it! Id imagine by now its pretty obvious what I am after. But if not, basically I just want a L/N that will run PS CS4 and 5 to the max, efficiently with out chocking on some of the heavier processes. I don't need or want it for any gaming, and seen as (or from what I have read) PS mainly concentrates on the CPU and not GPU, I will be quite happy for just an integrated chip. I would like a 15" or higher LED backlit screen, atleast 3GB DDR3, dual core or higher running at atleast 2.66** and not terribly important, but a finger print security log in scanner thingy would be useful. I would also prefer a Windows 7 based system and not a MacBook (although better for my needs perhaps). I might be going to the US soon, which would be the optimal place to purchase, so my budget is there for a strict $1200.. No more, not even $1 :P (Unless its shipping) Or if sourced from the UK, then max £550! For those that are able to help, thank you VERY much in advance! :) Kind regards, Klis ** As said already, I am not that familiar with specs, but I am basing those on a friends Notebook which I quite liked... But I didn't test it with CS4, so I cant really know if it would work or not :/ With regards to the CPU, i forgot to add, that I would prefer an i5 or i7 based CPU.
