I have a question about my toshiba qosmio hardware wise in the windows experience index? so here are my ratings: Processor Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU P7350 @ 2.00GHz: 5.0 Memory (RAM) 4.00 GB: 5.9 Graphics NVIDIA GeForce 9700M GTS: 5.9 Gaming graphics 2301 MB Total available graphics memory 5.8 Primary hard disk 5GB Free (176GB Total) 5.6 So here is my question why would they make everything in my toshiba awesome but the processor? Isn't that really important when it comes to gaming? But honestly how high am i up there with best of the best gaming notebooks? i am just kinda disappointed that they put a crappy processor compared to the rest of the awesome hardware in my computer some of the games i own dont play full quality at full performance. I had to turn off anti-aliasing in Age of Empires III for it to work at full performance. I just got this laptop and am a little disappointed. do i need to do a little setting up/calibrations in my computer for my games to speed up at full quality?
What is the best laptop for gaming? I have an Asus notebook and it runs my games reasonably well but the graphics aren't really out of this world and it overheats really easily when I play fullscreen. I'll be giving this one to a family member because I want to buy another one. Honestly, my old $200 Acer had better graphics than this, even though it was slower loading. I don't really care what the outside looks like, color and design wise (although the Alienware laptops look AWESOME) I just want a laptop that will make my games and movies that I watch look amazing (so a large screen) Also, the webcam on this Asus sucks sweet turtle drool. I wouldn't mind if the laptop had a good quality built in webcam. I would prefer not to spend more than $2,000 but don't let that price limit your suggestions, I could always finance it. I got mixed reviews on the alienware laptops, a lot of people reported problems with the hardware and poor technical support. So basically: -Good gaming graphics -Good quality webcam -$2,000 or less -Doesn't overheat easily I need help choosing, any suggestions?

Alienware notebook versus Macbook.? Okay homeslices, I need some help. I'm looking into investing big bucks into a laptop. I'm down to Alienware or Mac. I'm a small time gamer, but I run decently large programs besides that. I customized a Alienware and this is what it looks like. Asus G50VT-A2 Notebook (NVidia 9800GT) vs. Asus Laptop with Intel® Centrino® 2 Processor Technology? I am buying a laptop for gaming this month and I don't know much about hardware. I can get an Asus Laptop with Intel® Centrino® 2 Processor Technology at Best Buy for $1250. It has 4GB DDR2 memory, 2.26 GHz, 320GB SATA hard drive (7200 rpm) and a NVidia 9800M GS Graphics Card (512Mb). Or for $600 more dollars I can get an Asus G50VT-A2 Notebook, it has 4GB DDR2 memory, 2.53GHz, 640gb sata2 7200rpm Hard Drive, a Blu-Ray Reader and a NVidia 9800M GT Graphics Card (512mb). I wanted to know if the extra $600 is worth the upgrade, or if there is any laptops in between $1200-$1800. Also are these laptops capable of playing top of the line games on high/very high settings, and are they worth getting or are there better notebooks out there? Any help is appriciated.

What notebook should I buy? Ok... I'm getting a laptop for college... and I was hoping to spend up to $1500 on a good machine that I can depend on for years. I'm a windows user, but I get frustrated with the general hiccups of my computer and was thinking of switching to Macs. Here's my issue. Looking at what the machine is for the price, the Macbook doesn't have the big specs that a similar PC has at the same price. For instance, it only has 2 GB of RAM and a 120 GB hard drive, whereas a PC notebook at the same price has 4 GB of RAM and a 320 GB hard drive. I know my computer will need to run for long periods of time often with lots of windows open. I'm not a gamer, but I am definetly into music and movies... so my computer must be able to handle lots of downloads and viewing and listening without breaking a sweat. I always seem to have at least five windows open on my current computer, and I'm sure that habit will only get worse. I currently have a Dell desktop PC that runs Vista Home Premium with 2 GB of RAM. It is alright, but the slow start-up time and general lag of downloading and viewing constantly annoy me. I have heard that Macs can run much better than PCs with better specs because it the software and hardware were made to work together, but I;m not sure if it's such a good idea to get a computer that doesn't have really good RAM because it seems like computers become obselete in a few years, and I want this computer to last. So basically I need some experienced or educated opinions in which way I should go, Mac or PC. And if you choose PC, could you also possibly touch on Windows 7 and which brand of notebook PCs are typically the best in dealing with lots of multimedia applications. Oh... I don't think I mentioned this, but since I'm going to college, portability is a MUST! I can't have a notebook with a screen bigger than 16"! Thank you for your helpful advice!

How should I go about cleaning my Asus G50VT Notebook? I've had the laptop for about 7 months or so, two of these months it was rarely used, and I decided to clean out the fan because it gets incredibly hot and the fan is really loud. However, I couldn't really get to the fan, and I did the best I could cleaning out the dust with a Q-Tip, but it's still getting pretty warm and the fan is still making that horrible grinding noise. Is there any way to open up the thing encasing the fan, or clean it out even better? I play World of Warcraft on it, and that's it for the gaming. I'm not too great with any hardware, so keep in mind I'm totally newbish as this :)
Help picking a gaming laptop? There are few things I understand about computer hardware. In fact, really the only thing I sort of do is RAM and hard drive memory. haha. But, All I really want it to be able to do is play World of Warcraft at 40+ fps with all the settings cranked and be able to do 25 mans and battlegrounds with a decent frame rate even while playing music, and possibly having a few other apps open and a 17" display. I considered the M17 from alienware with no extra features except 3 gigs but thought of finding something of better value. All the options have left me completely lost though. These are what else I have considered, http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9379442&type=product&id=1218095152438 http://www.ibuypower.com/ibp/store/configurator.aspx?mid=330 (with 4 gigs) http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/system/Xplorer_X7-7500_Notebook/ I would like to know which of these are of the best value, and if you recommend any laptops. It'd also be nice to know if I'm even anywhere on the right track in picking a computer -_-. thanks ^_^ I realize alienware is all gaming laptops but that doesn't mean other brands can't make laptops for gaming(which the ones i linked are) and have them be equally as good. I would really like some sort of comparison. thanks though. thanks a lot. the last 2 are actually ones i found flipping through PC Gamer.
What to look for in a Graphic Card? I do not know very much about computer hardware, only software, so can someone explain to me how do i differentiate between different graphic cards? Like what difference do the names and numbers mean and all the like, and if anyone cares for best answer, can someone find me a pc/notebook, for not too high a price, that can run games such as Soldier Front or Call Of Duty: World At War without ever having any Fps lag because that is what really ruins my need to get them.
What's the better HP Laptop from the list below, Can you please help me? I know a TON about what a Laptop should be. The CPU and The GPU The Rest is very easy to judge. RAM, HD Space, Screen Size, USB 3.0, Solid State HD is not important, and neither is Real 3D Graphics. They are all very nice laptops, I'd be happy with the i5 ones. I understand that the i5 ones have DirectX 11, which is best for gaming, but I just can't make up my mind which one is best for getting for getting stuff done, and created. What will I use these Laptops for, you might ask. 1. DVD Creation 2. Adobe Ae CS3+ 3. Adobe Photoshop CS3+ 4. Rendering and or Encoding Videos to other formats. 5. 3D Animation. 6. What do I need to look for in a laptop? I have never owned one, and don't want to have to buy one for the next 3 to 4 years to keep it updated with hardware stuff, like ram and memory (that isn't the same thing is it?). I am not very literate when it comes to computers. So I know I want to click on a link and it goesquickly to the page. I don't want to have to wait for the page to load. I like watching the tv episodes that I miss on CBS, for example. So I will need something to veiw movies, and tv shows with. I take a lot a pic's so I need room for that, because I make copies, but I like to look at them also, so they stay on the computer. I like playing simple games like Big Fish or pop cap which are not very big. Also I write al ot and I listen to music. I am no millionaire so I can't spend a lot of money on it, but like I said I need something that wont be ancient in three to four years. What do you suggest I go with? Who is the best notebook manufacturer? Please only serious answers please.

How do AMD dual core and core2duo compare? I have some non-technical, all things being equal questions. I remember hearing years ago that AMD was a more efficient and even faster cpu than the Pentium, especially for grqaphics. Regarding graphics usage in NOTEBOOKS for games, watching video files, video type conversion software; for example, xvid to dvd, and general computing, is there a noticeable difference nowadays (all other hardware being equal) using Win 7 (32bit and 64bit) with the AMD Athlon II dual-core processor M300 with ATI Radeon HD 4200, AMD Turion II dual-core mobile processor M500 with ATI Radeon HD 4200 and the Core 2 Duo with the Intel board? I haven't put a particular Core2Duo or Intel board but the average price I have seen is around $500 for the AMD's (Gateway and Toshiba) at Best Buy so I am comparing a similar price range notebook withthe core2duo.
Which Laptop is better? I'm looking for a new laptop, I was wondering between these 3 which one was the best. How well would my laptop run minecraft? I have a compaq CQ60-615DX notebook. The standard one that I bought from Best Buy a year or two ago. I want to know how well it can run Minecraft on it. Im sort of sure I could run it well but I don't want to waste $26 on a game if I can't even run it. Heres my specs: Processor: Intel Celeron CPU 900 @ 2.20GHz Memory/RAM: 2.00 GB Graphics Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset Family (GMA 4500M) Gaming graphics: 797 MB Total available graphics memory Primary hard disk: 159Gb Free (220GB Total) I don't think I left anything out, so I would like to know how well I am with this setup. I haven't messed with any of the hardware aside from cleaning it out occasionally.

Can you edit this this essay about mac and pc compare and contrast? Mac or PC? One day I went to Best Buy with my dad to look at laptops and computers. A majority of the laptops and computers I saw were Apple Macintoshes and Window PC’s. I asked my dad, “What are the differences and similarities between a Mac and a Pc?” He stated that an Apple Macintosh and Window Pc fundamentally do the same things, but have different features. For instance, the ease of use, hardware, and software are not precisely the same between a Mac and a Pc. The ease of use for Apple Mac has integrated video tutorials, a consistent experience across all applications, and a drag and drop based action. Despite the fact that, particular tasks such as moving your iTunes and iPhoto libraries to a hard drive can be perplexing. Plus, you can jeopardize losing your complete music collection if you don't follow the directions exactly right. Knowing that, a Window Pc has an uncontrollable barrage of error messages and freeze-ups. Although, currently a Window Pc has become less crash prone, but they are more customizable. Which one appears to be the preeminent preference to you? As hardware goes most computers have a tendency to fall into predictable Mac and PC lines. Apple is the only company making certified Mac computers, so you essentially have a choice between their seven models. Although, the all in one nature of nearly all the Mac computers means that custom add ons neighboring additional memory and third party graphics can be expensive, complicated and to some extent, limited. For a Pc the sky is the limit in terms of hardware, with everything from bargain basement, bulky desktops, professional laptops, everyday desktops and lavish notebooks. Plus, a Pc has an ample variety of price range, designs, sizes, and the inclusion of built in technologies such as mobile broadband and high def Blu-ray disc playback. The Software of an Apple Mac and a Windows Pc are particularly contradictory. Pc has an assorted extensive collection of software to choose from, for example Visual Studio, Camfrog, Realtek, Video Chat, Mozilla Firefox, Opera, Internet Explorer, Nero, Photoshop, Windows Games, and Microsoft Office. Whereas Mac mostly has all Apple software for example, Apple Safari, , iLife, iWork, MobileMe, Aperture, Final Cut Studio, Final Cut Server, Logic Express, MacOSX, and Snow Leopard. However Apple Macs software is to some extent limited, but on Pc approximately everything will work. Both computers can in the end perform the similar operations. Even though, for every ten newfangled Web browsers or peer to peer file sharing programs that come out for the PC, there's just one ground-breaking, adaptable, and unwavering program for the Mac. So whatever happened to my dad and me at Best Buy? Turns out I have to wait until I get into college to get my own laptop or notebook! Well anyways, I still haven’t decided on which computer I think sounds better, although I’m leaning toward an Apple Mac. But, you never know, Apple Macs and Windows Pc’s are both great computers, although sometimes one of them is better at something than the other. Which computer did you pick, an Apple Mac or a Windows Pc? btw, im in 7th grade

Is this a good computer? Okay, I've posted 2 other questions about this, but this is my final one. Im looking for a laptop for myself, a 14 year old 8th grader. I will use it greatly for school projects, pictures, editing those pictures, music and a downloadable game or two. I need a computer that runs very smoothly for the game and has a lot of storage for many programs. I will be using the laptop every day for the game (Combat Arms, a war game) and for school things and music and so on. I have to have a laptop, and the computer I'm looking at right now is called a Studio 15 by Dell. I've loaded it with some good things, and I'll post those in a moment. The price is very pricey, $2,194 because I've put on some of the best things into the laptop. I will be doing a plan though where I pay $66 a month. Plus, its no interest until October, 2009 and im hoping I can pay off the whole thing by then, and I think I can. So the question is, when you look at the information about the laptop that I've posted below, and you know the requirements I need, is this a good computer? Any comments or suggestions? Changes I should make? Thanks in advance! ;D This is all the information on the page. I hope it helps! Sorry if it looks confusing... M11x problem. In need of assistance! no specs/bios?! driver update issue? I had just purchased an m11x not to long ago. it has a Geforce GT 335m standard graphics chip, the core 2 duo processor 4gb ram now I've been using steam to buy games for a while now and had no problem buying, installing and playing games such as: just cause 2, penumbra collection, portal, never winter nights 2, half life 2, hit man blood money and call of duty 4 but not too long ago i bought metro 2033 expecting to get a playable frame rate on the lowest settings. Now after installing it i attempted to play and was prompted with a message stating that the "program couldn't start because physxloader.dll is missing ...please reinstall" i figured i was probably missing a file i could just get online so after some search i found this could most likely meant i should update my "drivers" so i went to nvidia.com and downloaded the newest driver for my graphics chip and computer model. http://www.nvidia.com/object/notebook-win7-winvista-64bit-266.58-whql-driver.html that is a link for the driver i downloaded. i expected it to simply download, install and update but when i finished the update and attempted to run metro 2033 i was given the same message. so i decide to reboot the computer in hopes of it working. when i turned the m11x back on its started making a large siren type noise kinda like a fire alarm when booting windows. i attempted to turn the volume down but nothing happened it just froze and continued beeping so i hit the power button (alien head) and the beeping stopped and the computer continued to boot normally, after logging in i noticed the resolution was VERY low(like in safe mode) i first right clicked and tried to change the resolution to the usual 1366x768 but was only allowed the choices of 800x600 and 1024x768 i found this weird but chose the higher option and then tried to use the fn-f6 combo to switch in between discrete and integrated graphics card but when i hit the keys nothing happened i tried multiple time and nothing happened so then i check my " bios" the only way i know how , program search : RUN then DXDIAG which now shows none of my usual specs' for my graphics chip it shows n/a almost like the computer is not recognizing my hardware (processor, graphics chip) , all of my specs are shown as n/a i tried rebooting my pc multiple times and running it in safe mode and its always the same. as you can most likely guess i am not the most tech savvy person and need help with this horrible problem. ANY HELP IS MUCH APPRECIATED ! Ps: sorry for writing this large paragraph i just want you to understand my problem to the best of your abilities.
