Online games like the sims, build your own house etc? I bought the sims for my laptop a while ago as my mum was buying it for me, she came home with a notebook with no disk drive so i was gutted! lol, anyway, is there any online games like the sims where you build and decorate your own house? I've googled it but all the games that come up are really simple or for younger children, any idea's?
What is the best yet cheapest gaming notebook for $1000 or less? I know that gaming Laptops don't come cheap so if your going to tell me to build my own can you give me all the specs for a good computer that can handle The Sims 2, MMOs, Fear, Doom 3 and other High caliber games Plz also I really like watching dvds, dell is where i got my Desktop from them six years ago it was over 3000 dollars but it still serves me today but im only a teen so i cant afford that so I would really like to get a gaming Laptop for my Birthday in November so someone Plz help. Which is the better notebook - the new Dell Studio XPS 16 or the HP HDX 18t? I am looking for a Windows OS desktop replacement notebook, with a lot of multimedia power, great build quality, and good reliability, all for under $2000. I don't need it to be portable, although I would like to move around with it if necessary. I have researched extensively, and the two best notebooks I have found at this price range are the Dell XPS 16 and HP HDX 18t. I know that the Dell has some heat issues, although because I don't do any gaming, this shouldn't be a problem, especially with a cooling pad. The HP is massive - maybe too massive - and I have questions about the quality of HP (I have only ever owned Dell notebooks) as well as the really cheap looking chrome look. Does anyone have suggestions? I would also really like to hear from you if you own one of these notebooks, and have some idea of their quality, performance, etc.. Thanks. (Also - please no answers from Mac enthusiasts. Although I respect your opinions, I am not in the market for a Mac.)

Why not a Alienware Aurora for $1299? Almost every site or forum I visit to research Alienware computers say they are junk and a waste of money. They never really give any reasons and just say to build your own instead. I priced the Alienware Aurora (not ALX) components at newegg.com and you might save about $50-100 building it yourself. I'm beginning to think that there are a bunch of people just brand bashing without giving any real reasons besides 'they suck'. I want a prebuilt gaming computer with lots of room for future upgrades, warranty, support and Alienware Aurora seems to fit that quite nicely. Any thoughts would be appreciated, except 'they suck. Can anyone help me compare these two Asus gaming laptops? I've been trying to come to a decision between which of these two Asus gaming laptops I want to buy. They're both refurbished, but from sellers that offer a warranty and claim the product to be as good as new. I would also have buyer protection, so I think I'll be fairly safe. Whats a good laptop/notebook for under $500 dollars? Hello, I'm just curious weather anyone knows of any good laptop deals for under $500 or even $550 built for a huge multitasker, I'm planning on using it for school, to watch videos, make videos, listen to music, random mischief on the internet, and maybe even gaming, and i cant help but mention that i do have a lot of music producing software which i think takes a big tole on memory. Will this computer run secondlife well? Well, as posted in an earlier question, I think that my graphics card is failing. Doing some research of my own, I discovered that getting the thing replaced will probably cost me just as much as buying a brand new laptop. Why does my Alienware Aurora underperform? I have an Alienware Aurora R-2 and its about 4 months old now. It still has all components it shipped with and it performs admirably on most demanding games. However, I am a bit confused as to some thigns. For example, I can play Mass Effect 2 with all graphical setting bumped right up to full with no chugging or framerate drops at all. BUT, when I play a game that uses a much older graphics engine such as WoW, the game sputters to a measly 10-15 fps with everything on ultra. WoW is nowhere near as graphically demanding as Mass Effect 2 yet I cannot play it on any setting other than mid. Whats going on here? I dont get it. The same thing applies for Rift, which again is not has hard on the PC as Mass Effect 2 is and I ahve the same problem.
Problems recording sound with computer? I am having problems recording sound with my computer. I have tried using Sony Acid Pro, Sound Recorder, and recording videos with my webcam. I have tried recording on several different occasions over the past few weeks. I have tried both the built-in microphone and I tried plugging in my own microphone into the 1/8" audio input. In all of these instances, whenever I play it back the sound wavers in and out. I have an HP G60-120US notebook with Windows Vista 32-bit OS, 3GB RAM, and an AMD Turion Dual-Core RM-70 2GHz processor. The microphone/sound card is Conexant High Definition SmartAudio 221 and my computer says that it is working. I just bought this computer a couple months ago and it works perfectly for all of the other heavy duty work I do (video editing, gaming, internet, etc.). So I am hoping that this issue is fixable. Does Alienware Make the Best Gamer Laptop? I've been on Y!A in the computer section for over a year now, answering questions and helping people with problems. I may be in the market for a good laptop computer here soon. I have been doing my homework. I am comparing prices, features and warranties. I have never owned a laptop before, and frankly, the reason why is because I have heard so many BAD things about them - especially, when something goes wrong...the lousy warrenties, the cheap builds, the hype cover ups on second rate parts. Is this laptop anygood? Most of them have bad reviews bcuz the operating system corrupted which was windows vista 64bit, but this one comes with windows 7. This is an entertainment laptop, but I am NOT A GAMER AT ALL! this unit will be used for school work, Photoshop, power point presentation, and web surfing. Users also had problems with the fan and the computer overheating... Sorry for this post being sooooo long, but is this a good buy? Btw, it is factory refurbished, not by HP , but by a local tech team, and is $445 flat, no shipping charge or tax. What do u think? It has a 30 day warranty. Need help buying a gaming notebook? after trying to get new video cards or RAM for my Dell inspiron 1545, I found out that I cant do that. Because I asked twice here and people explained this is impossible unless you have a notebook specfically built for that. So I looked around and one name came up on the top of google when I searched for "gaming laptops". Alienware. Trying to turn my Acer 3690 notebook into a gaming computer? Now should i buy more ram and possibly a graphics card or is that difficult. Gaming notebook need a little help!!? I want to choose between the Sager 5793 and the Sager 8660.... The both are almost the same except that sager 5793 gives 9800 m gts wid 1 gb dd3 and the 8660 gives 512mb.. The sager 8660 has a stronger processor(built on a new platform) the prices are almost the same.. HelP!!!!! my budget is 1600 usd..
What are some really good reasons to buy a laptop/notebook? i already have 2 desktop computers at home (one for general use and one i built for gaming). i really want to buy a laptop, and i know which one i want and i have enough for it, but i don't want to make the mistake of buying it and then finding out i really don't need it.
Would it be cheaper to build a laptop from scratch or to simply buy it from a retailer? I need a gaming laptop, one that will be good for at least say another year or so, playing games on at least medium.. Help with gaming PC components? I'm gonna buy a new custom-built Alienware m17 or m15x gaming notebook, but I need to be sure of how I'm gonna buy it. I know about all the different components, but some things have me confused, for example: 1. Which is better: a 3.2 GHz single-core, 2.8 GHz dual-core, or 2.26 GHz quad-core processor and by how much? 2. Do I need a faster processor for 4GB RAM than for 2GB RAM? 3.Do dual graphics cards need a faster processor or more RAM than single graphics cards? 4.Will a dual-layer blu-ray drive read game CD's and DVD's slower than an 8X dual-layer DVD-ROM drive? 5. Do i need a faster CPU or more RAM for multiple hard drives? 6. Does the built-in digital TV tuner need anything else (cable\satellite subscription, antenna) to receive channels? Desktop or notebook(laptop)? hey. ive got a toshiba laptop with a celeron M processor and like 700Mb ram. its ok, plays some games but not the newer stuff. i can buy and build a new desktop and it'll be nice. but im at a dilema. should i keep the laptop, i love the mobility of it like none other, or get the desktop with the true processing power. i just cant decide!! no i cant buy a gaming notebook (costs too much), and no, i cant keep both. thank you! i cant keep both cause im going to sell the laptop to pay for part of the desktop. What kind of laptop for gaming should I buy tonight? I'm having a hard time picking one for the following two reasons. First, I can't find one with a powerful enough graphics card It seems. I have an 8800GT in my current rig, and nothing I research seems to match or beat that. That 512MB NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT doesn't look like it will cut it on the HP HDX18t, and the ATI Mobility RADEON® HD 3670 - 512MB benchmarks on the Dell aren't any better. Second, I'm worried about huge resolutions. Yes that included full high def screen is nice, but that 1920x1200 native resolution is going to kill my FPS! What is a good laptop for gaming? I currently have a sony vaio pentium 4 512 ram 64 mb radeon video but when I tried to play games like doom 3 and command and conquer tiberian sun it lagged. what is the difference between a notebook and a laptop computer? i am thinking of buying a computer and i am just wondering what the difference is between them. it will not be used for games really. it will be used to access the internet and maintain the a website that i am trying to build right now. maybe right a couple of papers playing videos and music and burning cd's and dvd's.

Does the OCZ 17" Gaming DIY Laptop Come With Video Cards? I'm on the market for a new gaming laptop so my first instinct was to go to Alienware I assumed that would be the easiest way to get a good laptop. However the cost is pushing me to the DIY laptop option that I think would be better in the long run. I've found a good DIY laptop but as I am new to building laptops I'm confused.
